Here are a few finished examples of my special weapons troops. Thanks to everyone who made suggestions - some of them were particularly helpful for the flamers.

I played around with the capes in this group a lot in an attempt to show either motion or ambient wind. I'd like to know what you think of it.

I'll post the rest of the current lot after I find time to base them.

These came out looking very nice. I was looking forward to seeing their completion, and I'm not disappointed. They look good.

Standing right behind you...

Their pretty good, the cloaks really make them stand out but i'm not sure about the plain bronze, w/o highlight, trims.

Really nice, only tthing I'd change, the white feet just look like they are wearing manky trainers.... (Would that be Sneakers to our foreign colleagues?)

Love the conversion work however!

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

I can see what you mean, but I'm not sure this really needs to change (or how to change it if so). The metal shinguard makes them look a little more like shoes than boots when viewed from the front, but I think they're pretty clearly boots when viewed from the side. I'm not really sure what I could do to remedy this, though. Given the rest of the color scheme, white seems to make the most sense for the boots (it would look a little funny to throw in brown or black there). Do you have any suggestions?

The copper trim is highlighted. . .sort of. I used two different techniques to for this, both of which seem to end up looking pretty similar. One is to use Tamyia "Dark Copper" as the base color, then highlight (edges for things with angles, top for round things) with Tamyia "Copper". The other is just to use Tamyia "Copper", then use a lot of GW's "Badab Black" wash on it, then go back and highlight it with "Copper" again. (I assumed gold highlights bronze, so bright copper highlights dark copper.) This effect is pretty subtle - so much so I've debated whether or not it's worth the trouble. If you can suggest a better way to highlight metallic copper, I'd be interested.

The shoulder pads are custom made - not parts from another kit. This is going to be a unique force (one I haven't named yet). I did get a lot of ideas for their uniforms from the Terrax Guard, but cloaks turned out to be a lot easier to make than long coats.
