If you're just tuning in this is a continuation of this thread:

Key bits:

Premise
Tyranid Hive Fleets have passed through the Milky Way laying waste to 90% of all inhabited worlds. The Imperium is shattered, the Astronomicon dark. The psychic shock of the death of trillions has altered the psychic landscape of the galaxy.

Things have changed.

Imperium
The Imperium is splintered into thousands of warring factions. The Imperial Guard's reliable equipment and the ever-growing masses of humanity mean that the IG of 50,000 AD is not the different from 40,000AD or even 30,000AD.
Space Marines are nearly extinct. They suffered greatly in the Tyranid War and the chaos that followed. Most chapters number less than a 100 and fight alongside the Imperial Guard.

Marines - Again down from a million (or so) galaxy-wide to a few thousand or less. While you'd expect them to suffer the worst in the galactic war they're also the meanest buggers around and would find ways to survive. Plus I imagine a dozen guys and dreadnaught in scarred yellow armor who are the last of the Imperial Fists. Tell me that isn't cool.

So...
Even after the Cataclysm and the fall of the Astronomicon the Space Marine of the Adeptus Astres have not yet vanished.

Marines in these final days of the Milky Way Galaxy come in 3 general forms...

LEGACY MARINES - These are the few marines who were somehow isolated during the Cataclysm and are essentially unchanged. Perhaps their Fortress Monestary was in an isolated corner of the Galaxy. Perhaps they went into stasis waiting for the Tyranids to pass, perhaps they were lost in the Warp during the upheavals that marked the death of the both the Eye of Terror and the Tyranids. Rumors say that 8000 years after the destruction of Fenris a long-lost battle barge appeared over the lifeless orb. The 100 Space Wolves on board vowed to reclaim their world and vanished into the shattered ruins of the Fang. No one knows what became of them. (Bascially use the existing rules)

PRETENDER MARINES - The once-proud Ultramarine chapter suffered greatly at the hands of the Tyranids. Their Geneseed is lost forever but their legend lives on. The Ultramar sub-sector is defended by an elite force of 1000 warriors armed with the finest weapons they can still produce. They are ruled by the last of the Ultramarines, entombed in the body of a venerable dreadnaught. He is woken once a decade to mutter his increasingly erratic and bizarre commands but his loyal warriors do their best to obey. (Basically they're IG storm troopers)

REDEEMERS - Those chapters that survived the Cataclysm are made up of the greatest warriors the Galaxy has seen since the Horus Heresy. 10 millennia of war required constant improvements in geneseed technology, in weapons and in techniques. Dressed in Redeemer Armor they are a match for the darkest Nightmares, the most insane Revenants. They have but one goal, to reach Holy Terra and learn the fate of the Emperor.

When it gets closer to finishing I'll post my Space Marine Remnants Codex here. I've done the HQs and the Troops so far.

One means the Mechanicum truly loses their gak, and the other means the Eldar realize that Vaul is really a toaster and experience religion fail.
Techmarine Mario and Brother Adept Luigi to the rescue !
I think it is a small fraction of Jesus worshiping Christians who have psychic powers.

Every time I see something about this "50k" style game, I'm thinking "This is a totally different game with practically nothing other than names in common with 40k." Why not just go and make a new and different game?

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

???

Same rules, continuing fluff, the real change is small armies with lots of powerful multiwond guys.

If it's not your bag then hey, it's not your bag.

And it's all in fun, no one sees this going beyond a fan project anyway.

Why are these marines capable of toting around these heavy weapons? They may be tough, but using a Multi-melta as an assault weapon is just nuts.

If you can't buy 'better geneseed, better armor' then I got nothing.

Oh wait! Suspensors!

that's right!

Had some thoughts here that as a twist of irony the Dark Angels secret was revealed before the downfall terra and they were declared excumunicatus by the high lords. Now they are the Hunted and its only the fact that the rock is constantly moving from place to place secretly questing for the ability to prove their innocence and offering there services to the highest bidders in the warring states. While constantly being hunted by the Knights.
They have something like 300 to 400 members left.
50 members Are all that rmain of the of the death wing they still have termie armor with 50 raven wing remaining and would have redeemer stats with a mere hundred marines that would be normal marine states with the rest being pretenders.

Blood angels are Also considered Hunted they have Embraced Their vampiric nature and have discovered a means to further extent their lives thousands of years. They have devolved to a state where they now raid planets for children that they raise to embed with their geneseed with to add more neophites and victums for their thirst. They are lead by Mephiston whose true vampiric nature was revealed in the 43 mellenium when Baal was excuminicated by the then grey Knights. They have a battle barge with 200 marines remaining If you can call them that. They are hunted by the Knights. With a redeemer stat line.

The Knights A scant 50 remain of the Grey Knights chapter. Since the fall they have dedicated them selves to discovering and destroying those who betrayed the origional Imperium. They beleive that chapters like The Dark Angels and Blood Angels As they believe that they are the reason that The GEOM Did not rise when Terra burned. They all have redeemer stats and should have nifty Psyker powers.

It can be done in 40k aswell... or atleast in apocalypse if you pick Holy War and are playing SoB.

I would guess that they are mighty pissed / determined to get to Terra that they are relentless.

So how good are the remaining Grey Knights then? Outside of Wounds their stats weren't far from that already.

Are Dreadnoughts any different?

For the Black Templars I could imagine them fairing Descent from after The Cataclysm. They already distrusted Psykers and as numerous as they were their Crusader fleets would have been spread out.
I see them as taking up the mantel of the old Inquisition. Psykers are being purged from humanity left and right. They see anyone that is not with them as corrupt and should thus be purged. They would see the death of the other chapters before the rise of a. They start acting judge jury and exterminator for the Imperium. They return to Terra and start to rebuild the crumbling Inquisition and Est. a new base there, High Terra.
They could get a new squad...Purge squad

Purge Squad 5WS 4BS 5(7)S 5T 2W 4I 9Ld 2+/5++
wargear: MC Relic Blades, Gauntlet mounted Heavy flamer ,Chains of Binding, Chains of Sealing

chains of binding: All enemy models attacking they receive one less attack in combat as they are bound into chains.
Chains of Sealing; Holy chains constrict the foe and drain psychic energy, enemy Invulnerable saves in combat are forced to be rerolled

You are found wanted: At the start of any game; select one Enemy squad or IC. That model is worth 2x as many Kill points (this could change if KP is not in use)

You are bound by High Terra: Any combat that they are involved in forces the enemy to fight as per no retreat rules, in addition they take always count as having a number of wounds fewer in combat resolution as there are They deal 3 wounds, and are dealt 5. There are 3 members of the Purge squad left , they count as having lost by 5 wounds.
375Pt for 5, up to 5 more for 75pt each
One full squad of 10 may be taken as HQ slot, other wise Elite Selection
