Ok, im on a project to convert each and every one of my ikkle Guardsmen. Its pretty much what they're there for right??
Most are going to be based on real life photos of infantry in combat, but if you have any cool ideas just write them down and ill see what I can do.
Here are the first couple. If it works.....

Gotta love guard for chopping them apart and remaking them. The reloading guy looks cool though the gun strap is a bit off, it should really go under the right arm and attach at the end of the stock.

Cool pose though. Some other angles would be good too.

You are right about the strap, however is actually based on a photo (as is the whole model) on a photo of my friend undergoing British Office training. I don't know why he had the strap like that.

Are those lighter grenades and parefelia (I spellt that wrong didn't I) resin? If so what kind?

It is proffesional work with the smoothness on the greenstuff that marks out a truly experienced modeler.

Anybody here who has trained with assault rifles will know that that sling is correct. Its for parade purposes, so no need to change the sling. Reloading guy is very nice

I don't know, bought them from a bitz website i think. Forgeworld made though.

They are FW IG parts, they come with most of the weapons kits etc.

Ok, I have been busy with other things, but in some spare hours here and there I managed to get a little done.
Here are a couple of the results. They aren't heavily modified, but they look cool and a little different from boring old Cadians.

A suggestion for the 2-handed plasma pistol dude; you might want to have the gun pointed up and forward like he is charging at someone and shooting at them at the same time.

Yea, but you don't really see that happen a lot in real combat situations as when you fire and run its going to be sooo inaccurate.
I was thinking of downsizing the plasma pistol though as it is more like a plasma gun on him. A bit too big.

Ok, progress is slow, but here are a couple more. I have a few more under my belt, but they will appear later im sure. As will some that have got half way before me realising that it was insanely hard. But progress, while slow is steady. For the moment. The last dude was a test of the colour scheme. It didn't turn out quite as well as i had hope.

Really like the Plasma Pistol guy looks like he's running but about to stop and bring it up to far two handed pistols always look good to me. Shows the modeller knows how pistols are fired accurately in real life and looks a lot more realistic. Really like the Sniper too is that just a stretched out Lasgun? I also like the Autocannon ammo on the base. The painting of the trousers on the last guy I like that German cammo style looks really good. He doesn't look up to some on here but he doesn't look utterly awful to me.

Ok, i haven't posted for a while now due to issues beyond my control. However, yesterday i had a break and managed to get some work done.
I've decided to break apart my old catachan army for resouces as the recession is hitting home now and i barely have enough money. These models will be stripped of paint before being repainted in the new colour scheme. They have also got to wait to be Green stuffed because im running out of that too.
Last of all, I've been working on the fluff section of my army with thanks to 'Random Article' on Lexicanum. This will be posted later though as its a wip its self. But i can tell you now that they are not going to be Cadians or Catachans or Cadachans.

You can comment you know. Even if you think its gak. Then ill stop wasting everyones time.

I have no idea Why but I like the idea of the reloading guy, I have extra bits if you want them and more importantly what about a conversion that uses the idea from an anime show like two IG playing YuGiOh or like full mertal alchemist but they are usng the same weapons. If it's full metal alchemist try using the effect of a lasgun coming out of the ground. just a suggestion I have a conversion of a tau head on a IG boty with the Yami hair and cards and junk it looks weird

Sounds pretty cool. How do you mean though?? Like having IG with spiky hair, or having them throwing energy at each other??

the added plasticard detail on the catachans is very neat. what thickness of plasticard did you use?
also, small nitpick: the auspex guy looks like he's handing the thing to his mate, not like he's using it. a small twist at the wrist would make the pose less awkward, imo.

The plasticard is .10mm. It works just like paper.
The main chest piece is .5mm, the underlaps are the .10mm stuff.

Ok, so here is a little of the fluff. Feel free to make comments and poke holes in it.

The pacification of Narsine and its peoples happened over many millenia, and, due to its position in Segmentum Obscurus has always had a large Imperial presence at all times, nullifiying the need of a PDF. However, several consecutive imperial commanders of the forces stationed on the planet noticed the strong resiliant nature of the people as well as unwavering loyalty to the Emperor and placed a request to make a small experimental regiment. This regiment was the Narsine 5th.

The history of the planet deemed that this was the 5th regiment to be drafted from the planet as a whole, even if the others were purely ceremonial. Thus the Narsine 5th was born and placed under the command of the young Colonel Struker, one of the only ceremonial officers to have seen battle before the regiment was founded. Struker, who would not settle until all of his men were battle hardened, quickly set about arranging numerous combat missions for his virgin soldiers. Quickly they worked to overcome many obstacles and became a highly effective fighting force, specialising in gurilla warfare.

Due to their relationship with Cadia and Agripinaa they were supplied with surplus 8th uniforms, however, these were modified almost instanly and beyond recognition due to their combat ineffectiveness. This being the case, much of the battle kit of the Narsine 5th is personal, although it bears reference to its Cadian origins. This is the case with the humble lasgun, which has stood the test of time and endurance in elongated battles where other ammo sources are scarce to come by.

As such, working as a team is something that the Narsine 5th have perfected, relying upon each other to cover their backs as opposed to Tanks, artillery and heavy weaponry. All of these things are hard to come by as Cadia claims most of the spares. Many of their specialist weapons are spoils of war.

Why not count it as a plasmagun? For the people who might take issue at your ingenuity, maybe add a folded stock.
