I herd some rumor at my local game shop that there might be new plastic kits for the other russ variants in the ig codex any one else herd this?

nope, not a drop. I COULD see some sense in it, MAYBE, what with the Emperor's Fist Tank Company that they stopped selling. Trying to fire sale off old stock before coming out with the new hotness. But since they stopped selling it, I could maybe see the project getting canned in some kinda early phase, and GW going "back" to the current model.

But to re-itterate, nah I ain't heard squat.

Supposedly a new box (perhaps with recut tracks/wheels too) will have more cannon variants. As it is part of the "wave" system of GW model releases we can't really know when or if it's coming out.

There are apparently two new kits coming in August, and there is a rumour that one (or both!) of them will be Russ variants. I do not believe much is confirmed here.

The GW guy at Adepticon this year mentioned that many of the new tank kits would be coming out "this summer". I think that's the most firm answer we've heard.

The May issue of WD states; "it's worth noting that all the vehicles in the Codex are planned in as plastic kits for the near future, you'll just have to wait a bit longer."

This seems to go well in hand with all the rumors claiming new vehicle kits for the second wave.

However, I am a bit sceptical since it seems to me that GW already has skipped on this promise. The Valkyrie box doesn't contain parts to make a Vendetta, and I find it very unlikely that they will release neither a separate sprue nor a separate box for the Vendetta.

page 25 of this months WD says ' and while the infantry will be at the forefront of your forces in the coming months its worth noting that all the vehilces in the codex are planned in as plastic kits in the near future'...........

That quote is in the discussion section about the new guard with Robin Cruddace. So that tells me that they will do one of 2 things, new kits for each and every varient, or like the super heavy box set, do a kit that allows you to build 1 or more varients out of the box ( eg Baneblade or Hellhammer for the super heavy.) I can see a boxed set with say the punisher weapons, executioner weapons and exterminator weapons in it and then you pick the variant you want to build! I cant wait to see what they do though!

i've heard of just recut turrets, with plastic sponson weapons (plasma cannon and multi-melta included) Seems liek they are going to keep the hull the same, with new fancy bits.

Thats what i basicly herd same hull just shiney new "toys" to attach to the excisting hull basicly i herd the Gryphon might be coming back too so old Ig players going be dusting off that model

love the shape of the russ. i hate predator, SM are sposed to be all elite But have carboard boxes for tanks? least the russ has style to it, all be it WW1 with a turret ^^

I have 3 of em and basilisk thats a lot of 6 inch templates with alot Strentgh 8-10 " dis tank make da biggest boom"

For what it is suppose to be I think the LR does a good job of conveying its character. A technologically backwards battle tank.

Just write off SM tanks looks as utilitarian, they need to be air tight and Thunderhawk transportable two things IG tanks don't have to be.

Cute is not the first word that comes to mind in describing an engine of war.

With all these companies floating around making models and kits to "supplement" GW models, I'm surprised no one has done alternative LR sides and tracks.

Apparantly there was a Ssur Namel (lol) resin conversin kit that made really really nice looking LR , but GW seems to have taken them down.

Any pics of that you can PM? I've been thinking about doing something like this. A little CAD work, a rapid prototype and someone willing to cast it.

I'd spotted the new kits line in WD as well. Guessing russes etc will get an extra frame. What I'm curious about is how far this line is true. Does that mean we should expect a plastick DEATHSTRIKE? how much will it be and will games just become matters of 'I have more vortex missiles than you or on the other hand does the missile have new rules and it's no longer a vortex missile in 40K as it was in Epic?

Ok. That bad boy. I've seen it, its not a conversion kit. They actually remolded entire GW parts, which is why the GW lawyers were all over it.

It does show a direction GW could go. I personally think it looks a bit silly. I think most people here could come up with something better. Importantly it does show that GW with minimal effort could shake things up and please more people.

I think we should move further discussion on alternate looks for a leman russ to the general discussion forum.

Lets look into the codex.

There we see:

LR variants have changed turrets.
But thats all. Chassis seems to stay as is.

Hellhound seem to get a new turret and new mid-section.

Artillery looks ok.
Still, chimera chassis.

Didn't see any redisign.

I'd be happy if they made the resin LRBT turret the basis for the new plastic turret.

GW won't recut the LR but will rise the price . i would like a new kit but i don't think we will see it.

At release 1.5 we will see 2 Russ kits, said to be 3 variants in a box.
GW may increase the price for the standard Russ then, but still needs to bring a weapons/turret sprue also.
