Hey Guys I wanted to post my latest terrain piece along with a portion of my 7000+ ork army. I found an image on the gallery a few days ago and it sparked my imagination for an ork airfield/airport. I still want to build a tower, but I thought i would post what I have so far. I will also add more once I get my entire army set up. I also used photoshop CS to clean up the back and make the image look a little better. Let me know what you think.

Oh by the way, my buddy and I created this in a couple of hours. We also found all the material, for the most part, in a dumpster. The airstrip is made out of a large piece of plastic wall covering for a shower or bathroom. It works great and is way cheaper than plasticard. The two hangars were just a gigantic toilet paper roll, just kidding, it basically was a huge cardboard tube we cut in half. I probably should cover up the seams, but I'm impatient sometime.

Like the idea , it needs to be more orky, dirty , patched up like it came from a dumpster. More glyphs , scrap piles. You know the drill.

I'm going to throw my entire army down on the table today.... i will post the photos soon.

It's very solid. Just a few thoughts:
- it's a bit odd that the hangars aren't big enough to hold the plane sitting on the landing strip. I understand you went with the materials you had 'at hand', though. Just something that popped into my head.
- barricades/fencing; any good airport, especially a military one, should have some barricades or fencing and some gun towers
- flash; I find that just adding small details to buildings--vents, keypads, signs, etc., tends to make them look significantly more 'cool' than the basic building + color (no details).

VERY cool though, thanks for sharing! Just trying to give you some ideas to expand/enhance.

Thanks for the tips.... i will try to incorporate those ideas. The fightabomba can fit... it's wings fold up. Also 99.9% of the time, it never makes it back to go into the hangar. Crazy orks.

Sure, but if you've seen an airplane hangar IRL, it's usually capable of holding the plane in the middle of it, with about 50 yards of space completely surrounding the plane. Not like a garage. Anywho... Just being a nitpick, feel free to ignore me

I am thinking of doing something similar for my ridiculous amounts of deffkoptas but I am thinking that their hangar (and feel free to use this idea) should have a busted roof like something crashed into it and ripped through denting up the remainder

dude I totally know what your talking about. My buddy and I knew right at the start it was to small, and I actually picked up the fightabomba to hack off the wings....but I didn't even want to start another project yet. Anyhow I was in the army and lived on wheeler army airfield in Hawaii. I know those hangars are huge, and if I had one that actually was to scale for my fightabomba, well it would take up the entire table probably. At least the new hangars would.

I have already started adding orky signs and images on the hangars and will add a few armor plates to random locations on the hangar. I just don't have any plastic rod to make rivets just yet. I need to get some. Anyhow thanks for all the input guys.

Oh by the way stormtitan. Did you make the Alien Autopsy? That was totally cool. Nasty, but cool.

Thanks for the tips and for the compliments. I have already started making changes, but have not got the photos taken yet.

Hit everything with super watered-down black or brown paint. It will help make things look dirtier.

Aside from that, good stuff there. How long has it taken you to acquire 7k of orks??

Thanks for the idea about the watered down black. Will try that. I have been collecting my ork army since 2nd edition, I started playing in 1992 or 93. I have some of my original models, I had sold them to a friend when I changed duty stations in the army. I met up with him like 8 years later and he gave many of them back. I started collecting my current orks since 2000 I think. Anyhow I have increased many of my points due to Apocalypse. So there are many expensive units.

Well I finally got some more done of this airfield. I added some junk, a large defense cannon and added more grime to the entire thing. Anyhow just compare the photos above with these, you will see the difference i guess.
