Hello Guys,

With the release of the new Valkyrie I set out to create a tray that would help us all out. I included all the items most IG players would field. Lemans, Sentinels, Heavy Weapons, and the new Valkyrie. If you notice the tray also has 4 odd round little holes and one square whole up front. The round holes are for hellstrike missles or the new punisher cannons/lascannons. The whole upfront is for the rocket pods. Keep in mind that with the sentinel / heavy weapon slots you can fit 4 heavy weapons per tray with the free foam spacers.

I just thought IG players would be excited about this new tray and would take care of the guys that have emailed us asking about something for their Valks. Hope you guys like it, and please call or email with questions.

Thanks

Romeo

P.S. for everyone out there with GW and Sabol bags. The Valkyrie is too wide and can not fit in GW or Sabol trays. I did my best to take care of those type of bags but just could not make it fit. Sorry

Lovely use of space there, looks like another nice coup for Battlefoam.

No way to to fit three side-by-side with the wings removed?

I have nine of these things and no Tanks, keep up the good work.

Am I to assume that the big spaces to the front of the Valyrie are for Leman Russ?

Cyporiean- I can get 2 to fit, but not 3. Even side by side these babies are huge. The two side by side without wings leaves just enough room for the winks to have a nice little storage space right in front of them. You would be able to fit all 10 Valks and 3 of the 72 troop trays in one 1520.

Warpcrafter - LOL, yes those are Leman Russ slots. Do they look like something else to you. Not being a smarta$#, just making a joke.

Okay, thats more acceptable.

What about a spot for the Stands? which I guess would be really hard to do since the don't have a fixed/guided way of being assembled.

Cyporiean - Great use of space, but I can not make foam to fit that way since I always require at least 1/4 inch of foam between vehicles. When I laid out the GW case the Valks always touched and did not leave enough room for foam to be properly cut. As you notice from your pics, all 3 of your valks are rubbing against each other and against the plastic inner wall of the case. I can't imagine you carrying that case for very long and not scratching your paint all to hell. You've done a great job painting them, why risk carrying them without foam? You'll just be mad at yourself later.

One last point. When we create a tray I always use a test we call the "4 Foot Drop" We build a tray, put the model its made for inside, place that in the 432 or 1520 and drop it from 4 feet, 10 times. If any part of the model breaks, or gets snagged on the foam we change the foam. This helps us simulate the possibility of someone dropping their P.A.C.K. and having their models inside.

I'm happy that you found a cheap way to carry those models, but be careful so you don't damage them.

Aye, even though three *can* fit inside a GW case, its cramped, but you probly could make a two wingless valk tray for GW cases

Buy anyway, looking forward to the two valk trays

Cyporiean - Great point, but as you may have noticed we are slowly reducing the amount of trays we do for GW and Sabol. As our product line grows in popularity, more people will be switching over or adding to their carrying needs. We hope to have a very large selection of Battle Foam trays to support those who invest in our carrying system.

Think of it as followed customer support after your initial purchase. After all, we are here to serve you over the long hall, not just a one shot deal.

Thanks

Cyporiean you say the wings are made to come off, is there a peg and hole system or something?

Are magnets needed? I was thinking of magnetizing the wings but i assumed they were two flush surfaces meeting therefore magnets would hold it until the model was bumped.

EDIT: Sorry not to derail your thread here...just very curious.

yeah, they slide into a slot on the hull right above the doors, its a nice snug fit and doesn't require magnets.

Much like the flight stand, but not as difficult to get in and out of.

Ya, the slotted main body is a really nice fit, but I fear over time that section will get looser and looser as it goes. Like anything plastic, the more friction you have the more rounded the area gets. I can totally see the wings getting really wanky after a few months of playing. I got 9 of these babies, and I've only put together 2 of them. I did one with magnets, and one without.

I really like the magnet system better because it adds that nice snapping noise when it goes in place. Since the bag system for me is a non issue, I just use 2 of the 1520's to hold over 7000 points of IG. I've made 9 trays that hold all my Valks and also can fit 18 Lemans and 18 Sentinels. I would say I'm ready for Apoc or planet strike.

We will have the unwinged tray up tomorrow. I'll do my best to make an unwinged one for the GW size case. If it can be done, you guys will have it. Check the site tomorrow and it should be up in the new items section if I was able to do it.

Thanks

I'm dyslexic, so I'm used to not taking for granted that what I'm seeing is actually what I'm seeing, especially somewhat abstracted shapes like foam cutouts. I can understand why you'd wonder that, though what with this being an internet forum where people tend to blurt out stuff they've never say to a person's face.

That valk tray looks great I like how there's space for russes too. I'm going to be buying 3 valks, and they will all have the rocket pods but I plan to keep them stuck on the model forever. So if I had 3 trays I'd also have space for 2 squadrons of russes so that's a nice bonus. Will the flying stand fit in the hole for the rocket pods? or one of the russ holes?

If I were to get 3 valk trays, what size of your bag would I need to hold all 3?

Awesome, cant wait to see how you did the spacing with my army ( I got the Fed Ex notification Friday) as it has 3 valks with wings in, 4 Russes, 8 Chims and 80 troops. If you can fit all that into a 1520 then I will be one extremely happy camper. I also wonder about the flight stands though. It would be great to be able to keep them in the case with the rest of the army.

Keep up the great work Romeo !

Cyporiean - Here you go, you asked and so you have received.

P.S. When I did the original GW tray I never thought about leaving the wings off. Stupid me, I guess we learn something new everyday.

Customer service at its best. You give us your ideas, and we make them come true.

Would the tray end up being too tall if you designed it to hold X number of wingless Valkyries laid on their side? It looks to me like you could potentially fit 5 or 6 models in that way, but I don't know if it would be efficient in terms of vertical space (ie, if it's taller than 3 equivalent 2-Valk trays it defeats the purpose).

I must say, that looks like an excellent use of space. I don't think the fit on the GW one could be any more tighter, you've really used up every square inch. Well done one more, Battlefoam.

Hey Romeo,

Sorry if this doesn't really have anything to do with your Valkyrie tray. I have contacted you/battle foam via e-mail regarding the idea of fitting three Eldar Grav Tanks onto one Battle Foam tray, however, have not heard a reply (perhaps it got sent to junk/lost on the internet > <?).

Anyway, I was told that it would not be possible to fit three Eldar Tanks onto one Battlefoam Tray. After playing with Photoshop on one of the display trays that can be seen on your website, I found that it was possible.

Manually test-fitting the tanks onto an appropriate space have also confirmed my suspicions, not only that, but with ample space leftover. *apologies for the dark image.*

My idea was to make a 2 inch thick tray (similar to the one in the photoshop image) for the tanks, and use the spaces behind to hold turrets/detachable weapons/etc.

I am wondering if it is possible to custom-cut trays like this for me, or if possible, even produce them?

Thank you.

Having trays fitting 3 Gravtanks would be very nice...

owning the small amount of 4 serpents, 3 falcons and 1 Fireprism I always refrain from buying foamtrays, since basically all Space would be used up by my tanks... Can you do 3 Tanks in one tray, battlefoam?

I don't want to be human! I want to see gamma rays! I want to hear X-rays! And I want to - I want to smell dark matter! Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can't even express these things properly because I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid limiting spoken language! But I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws! And feel the wind of a supernova flowing over me! And I can know much more! I can experience so much more. But I'm trapped in this absurd body!

Yeah. Also, if you're like me and have magnetized turrets, it's possible to fit 3 of them ona 2 inch thick tray, and have the turrets/bases fit in the back (circles in my photoshop image.) Not sure how well this would work with Fire Prisms though...

But yeah, think about it, in one PACK 432, 9 Eldar tanks. Awesome.

I'm hoping to get one 2 inch thick for Wave Serpents, and one three inch thick for Fire Prisms/Falcon. Perhaps using the extra space in the 3 inch tray to store my magnetized weapons/options etc.
