Well it looks like the GW price increase rumour is true as my friend pointed out to me look at the price of these pre order plastics

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1360000&prodId=prod2120013&rootCatGameStyle=lotr" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1360000&prodId=prod2120013&rootCatGameStyle=lotr

I'm not moaning as this is pretty standard from GW, but I for one just ordered all the stuff I need to complete my Rohan Army.

My friend phoned GW today and they couldnt really comment if everything was going up in price.

Get your orders in folks, probably only a few weeks away for the increase.

So, is that a £5 price increase?? I don't know how much LoTR sets normally cost, but if its 5 quid extra thats 33% increase, during a global recession?? GW has lost its marbles. And are these price increases gonna go across the board?

I don'k know if I'd save more money buying stuff before the price increases, or if I had better just buy nothing GW ever again!!

Dont get your order in. Dont waste your money. The more you order from GW now means they win and can keep putting prices up when they like, if you dont order now and dont pay the stupid new price then theyll be screwed.

Yes £5 on infantry boxed sets. And yes get this £8 on cavalry boxed sets

Well I'm ordering form an independant stockist that already ahs the stuff in stock.

Yes I agree even doing this supports GW, the fact is that I like the game and I want the models.

Still a price increase of this much just after they announce WoTR which is a game based on large armies is a bit much.

What about these 10 WFB figures for £25!!

Ah the Goldswords lol, well them and the new lotr prices oh and remember the 10 man guard boxes are going up to £15 which probably mean the valk will be £40, the command squads and sentinels will be £20. But never mind. My recomendation get out while you can.

I wrote to Jervis Johnson and got my reply today, the usual GW is the best with rules- lies, models- lies and customer support- LIES. Though he did say now is a good time to get out the hobby as well. I kid you not

Did he really say getting outta the hobby was a good thing?

Looks like the LotR blisters may be going down slightly. Currently a blister of 3 is 15 USD and the new Elf gurds re 3 for 13.25 USD.

What ha said on the letter, is if you are planning on leaving the hobby then it is your choice, though if you are your gonna get a good deal on what you sell. He also said if your leaving the GW hobby then take a look at other other wargames companies which shocked me more than out else. The blister reduction is a sneaky way to get away with the boxes going up clearly

This is rediculous, i think GW is going to get one hell of a shock to the system when these prices stand,
The thing is people will begin to order stuff now while it is cheaper and even then GW will make money at unbelievable rates.

hopefully these prices dont extend towards forgeworld or im completely buggered,

To be fair if your ordering now your falling into there trap and doing what they want, your still filling there pockets, more fool you im sorry to say peeps. FW prices have went up but not by much, some items are down though. You need to check with there new catalogue and webpage

Ahh ok well i love the forgeworld models far too much to give them up , but what i really am hoping is that this price increase will really show why constant price increases will hurt the business, and that people will understand that not buying from them or their products will mean they will have to lower prices to get their customers back.

well heresto hoping ey !

Lmao price decrease. If they do that thyell still not get many people back. Its to late for some of us who have been in this hobby a long time, a lot of the vets are sick of the way they treat there customers and yet proclaim there high and mighty and above and beyond anyone. A FW guard army is cheaper thana GW plastic one. GW`s biggest lie the more we make in plastic the cheaper itll be, umm the plastics are the same price as the metals there replacing and infact more expensive. Good luck to those who stick with GW, youll need it.

Before some people pipe in but what will you do if GW go out of business, youll have no rules or youll have no new mini`s. The minis i can get elsewhere better from other companies and i have enough GW plastics to last me years> The rules well why would i need updates anyway they dont update out through FAQ`s so there wil be no differance. All that means is i get my Chaos codex back (yeah the good one) and as id be playing mates wed all be good and lets face it if thats the best rules GW can come up with then anyone could make rules.

I thought GW were going right when they made WOTR but now thats dead in the water cos of the price rise well never mind GW. Good luck GW will need it

Well if I like playing and want to play what choice do I have?

Can I get 40k alternative models elsewhere?

Even privateer press put warmachine prices up recently

There a tonne of alternative models that you could use. Look around and you will find something.

As for Privateer Press in some places they have raised prices though in some places theyve also dropped them. But lets not turn this thread into PPS vs GW the price war anyway. Each company has benefits over the other but thats a different thread

It's deja Vu all over again, Yogi.

GW raises thier prices at least every other quarter. Sometimes significantly, sometimes, not.

Good thing I have enough to last me awhile.

My only real gripe with them is that they sell squads in groups of 10 now, instead of the boxes of 20.

Oh well.

I didn't realize how this effected vet players and didn't mean to Stoke a fire it was just an observation from a new players perspective.

The prices were high to start with fir me so I'm just going to suck it up and carry on enjoying my hobby

If they keep raising prices, won't there be a point where the prices will be too high for people to stay interested, and they'll be forced to reduce?

hopefully this is more than wishful thinking.

Shuttler- Its GW who have stoked the fire. Fair play to you if you wanna continue. By all means its a good hobby. The prices ruin it as does some of the mediocre rules. For fluff GW is far and beyond anyone. Fluff isnt enough in the end though. Been playing GW and only GW for 14 plus years now. These new prices are beyond a joke is the only problem. £60 battleforces? £25 for 10 men? £15 for 10 men when you used to get 20 for £18

GW and the chimps that run it wouldnt lower prices they aint done it before so why now. All theyd do is put thm up again, but on a serious note they have to hope they survive to get to then. RIP GW?

Nah Cryonic I think your right they will probably do it till even the most dedicated stop buying and then they will have no choice but to lower prices, but even if they did then it would be too late no one would trust them,

we just got to hope they dont do it anymore

Are you kidding? There are more than enough discount stores that ol' GW is getting the best of both worlds. You're either buying from the website so you "get in before the price increase" or you're going to your favorite "discount" dealer and buying 20-30% off. But guess what? GW is getting paid both times.

Seriously - you have to actually stop buying the stuff before they will feel it. As long as the discounters (and you) still buy, GW will still sell. I'm pretty sure GW is figuring the "consumer" has been getting a good deal on product for a long time.

Let's say no one showed up for Games Day in the UK. That might get their attention, but last I checked it's a hard ticket to get. . . proving their point.

If you think about it GW is looking to be the best investment going in the world of near zero interest rates.

Just pump your savings into boxes going up in cost.

After the price rise, take them back and ask for a full refund at the increased price.

I mean that's got to be a 20% interest rate on some stuff, i might pay off some of my mortgage

Behind you.

Eventually they're gonna' see their profits decrease even more, and the recession will blow over, so they'll be forced to lower their prices.

I do not consider this a rumor. GW announced the Price Increase in the May issue of White Dwarf, some of us have got it early/mid-April and confirmed it then.

Ah right, I didn't see the magazine or anyone post about it so it was still a rumour to me

The point about discounted stores is a good one. I'm always buying under the RRP

I wonder if GW price themselves out with intention. Put up prices, lose customers, means no need to up production volumes?
