Ahoy! Thought I'd start up a WIP blog here so that I have a bit more motivation to complete these dang things...

So to get this started, here is my test palatte daemonette... I'm considering finishing the rest of my daemonettes in the same fashion.

Cheers mates.

Looks good, and I really like the base.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Thanks mate, soul grinder, nurgle theme... considering hacking off the harvester and scratch building a pus cannon or something the like to it. I still have to GS some rotted flesh and the like to the chassis.

How did you make the base for Daemonette? And what did you do for skin color.

If you smell bad, take a shower before playing me. I hate when people devote too much time to something that they can't even shower.

The base itself is fairly simple:
It consists of a 3:2 mix of fine sand (it's from the sandy, sunny shores of Mexico; haven't found anything similar in texture here.) and Citadel fine basing slate. Just paint PVA glue on the base and dump the basing mix onto it. Shake off any excess. When it has dried thoroughly, prime it black. Once the primer is dried and cured it is dry brushed with Fortress Grey. My home terrain is an ash wasteland / ruined city, it fits in so flawlessly.

The daemonette's skin is a bit more in depth, but still simply enough to do over an entire army.

Step 1: Prime the mini black.
2: Using a batch sprayer, Badger 350, I spray on a basecoat that consists of 3 parts Hormagaunt Purple, 1 part Dheneb Stone, and an acrylic matte medium to thin the paint to a milky consistency. If I find it still doesn't spray well, I'll add very small amounts of water until it does. I find the foundation paints get pretty testy once opened. As with any basecoat, do as many light coats as needed to mask the black.
3: I add another part Dheneb Stone and a part Skull White to the original mix and dry brush all the skin on the model with it. The only place the basecoat should remain visible at this step is in the recesses.
4: For a final highlight, I very sparingly dry brush Skull White onto the raised skin.
5: To add some depth near the feet, apply a thinned wash of Leviathan Purple.
5b) Optional: Sparingly dry brush a 4:1 mix of Skull White and Liche Purple over the feet to help blend them into the rest of the model.

Basically, this is a modified version of GW's technique. I'm not the biggest fan of almost necrotic daemonettes.
I'll post some pics of the rest of my horde, I prefer to assembly line mini's after a successful prototype.

Happy painting.
