When I thought that have finished my nurgle army, I realized that I still had one DP in my bitz box. A metal DP that I bought on eBay some time ago. Since it not very nurgly I decided to put my sculpting skills to the test. My plan is to use the DP a foundation a sculpt the new DP over the old one.
I had had some progress I would to share the result so far. Comments and suggestions are very welcome!
There is still a gap between the shoulder and the wings since the wings are not glued. I havent diceded if the wings shall be removable yet or not. I am working on the torso, there are some GS on the legs but never mind that yet... : )

Very nice. I especially like the peeling flesh to expose the spine on the back. It almost looks like it was meant to be like that. And good work on the gaping maw in the gut.
I'd go ahead and magnetize the wings. If anything it will make it alot easier to transport.

I really like it. You've got quite a bit of talent there. Just an idea here, since nurgle models tend to be pretty asymetrical you might see if removing one of the wings produces a suitable asthetic for you.

Agreeing with cannerus the mouth is awesome, cant say it reminds me of anything tho.
Personally i dont really like wings on a nurgle DP, cos like they are supposed to be bloated and stuff so I cant picture a giant blog flying through the sky
Will most assuredly want to see the paint job on this beast
Also what are the holes in the base :S lol

are those balrog wings if so alot of flk has been going on that their not turney leagle(buy the creators of lord of the rings)one of my friends had daemon prince with those wings and all hell broke out because they were balrog wings and he looked it up and sure enough theirs all kinds of debate about it. other tha that love the look and the back with the exposed spine reminds me of the GUCO from FW,cant wait to see it done

Thanks for the feedback.
I will continue adding more detail to the torso and back.
The wings are probably the balrog wings, but I never attend any turneys, so that will not be a problem.
I am using them because I think they will be great on this model. I have dremeled big holes in the wings that I will fill with GS. When I am done it will be hard to see what kind of wings it was from the beginning.
The base is just a temporarly one. The holes are from the pins from the FW demon that I painted last week. Both princes will be on resin bases from GF9.

Good idea, but I think to remove a wing completly will be too much (for me atleast), but putting some heavy duty dremeling to make it smaller would suite e better. Like if it have been broken off and being in the process of growing back... just spinning ideas....

I agree, but wings on the DP is a quite good way to spend 20?p to get into action quickly, the only thing I can do is to make it look as absurd as possible on the nurgle DP´s. I will post my "wings" for my FW DP whan I get home from work... they are (or it)..... ridiculous...

Added some more details last night to the legs. I attached the head temporarly to see if it look ok. I am planning to remove at least 1 horn. The pictures are slightly out of focus, sorry about that.

Agreed, the head just dose not seem to fit in with the rest of your work here, however the rest of what you have done is extreamly cool.

Yea, the head is just there to see if it fits. I have already removed it in order to flesh it. The face mask will remain, but will be more grotesqe and slimy.
The "real" addition is the torn skin on the right leg and the blisters on the back of the legs. I also added some volume to the blooted stomage.
edit: oh yea, the nurgle skulls on the left knee is also added... I am not finished with yet, I have just attached them.

Once again, after a midnight sculpting session, the head is back on. I am starting to feel that the model starts to be finished. The wings are left ofc.
I would like some commects on details and so on...
I am sorry that the pictures are a bit bright... I might have to upload new ones tomorrow, now I am too tired.... : )

After spending some time looking at these magnified pictures of the mini, I am starting to dislike his right kneepad. Its a nurgle symbol. You can see it on the first and fourth picture in my previus post.

I really glad how this beast have turned out, and your comments almost makes me scared to start painting him : )
He is primed now, and I have painted up the base (a GF9 base) while watching "Constantine" on TV, rather inspirational movie when your are painting demons... : )
I think I will start drybrushing the first darker layers tonight...

Looks like he's spotted a shiny penny on the floor. The head still looks out of place to me, but that might just be because it's grey against a green background, I think some kinda gas mask style tubing would go great with the head, great sculpting though.

Hi - that looks awesome...
The only thing I would prefer different is if you could extend the underside of his neck so that he is looking up rather than down.
Does not look so menacing looking down unless you were going to build up his base (so he looks directly down at the guys he is in hand to hand with).

The chest maw reminds me of John Carpenter's The Thing. If you've seen it, you know what part I am talking about. Apart from that, I have to say, this model is fantastic. I really love the wings - the sense that he requires huge, powerful wings to lift his bloated and diseased body is very strong, and the growths and holes in the wings really add to that effect. I hate the regular Daemon Prince model, but if they had made it looking like this, I would buy two!

Lovely work! The head is good. It makes the body the focal point. It also gives you that Friday the 13th JASON ambiance making onlookers think "if the body is that mutated I wonder what's under that mask. Keep the head! And thanks for sharing
