For one of my first attempts at conversion, I am going to modify an Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios Warmachine model. For the base I'm going to use a battle worn urban looking piece from Groundwerks. I will be replacing Eiryss' equipment with some 40k bits: for the cross bow, a boltgun; for her sword/knife/whatever, a chainsword blade; for the quiver on her back, a backpack; and for the quiver at her hip, a holster with bolt pistol.

I already got started on the conversion work before I had a camera handy so unfortunately I don't have any shots of things NIB or in separate components. I guess moreover this will be a blog for the painting of the piece.

Actually the camera is still kind of pending (I should have access to one some time this week).

I'll have pictures approximately mid June if I wait on my own camera. :(

So I finally got hold of a camera a week or two ago and it takes horrible pictures... which doesn't matter since I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of Eiryss with it before it suddenly 'broke' (batteries have run out or something; won't turn on).

I have instead taken pictures with my iPhone... please excuse the quality.

I'm going to try to prime her at the same time as my Wold Warden, Wold Watcher, and Pureblood Warpwolves this weekend.

Ooh, interesting conversion. Is this an Eiryss conversion for 40k, or for Warmachine?

It was going to be for Warmachine. It may end up just being a display piece now since my FLGS might be reducing their Warmachine involvement considerably.

Originally I was thinking of having it so I can switch out the base and use it for either 40k or WM but I couldn't figure out how I'd make the base interchangeable. I could probably have used magnets or something, but I'm not too savvy with that stuff.

I am revisiting this project and will have better pictures... but so far I haven't done much with her.

Here are better pictures of an Eiryss conversion that I'm revisiting.


Here is a close up pic of Eiryss. I gave her a backpack, holster, a couple grenades, a boltgun, and a chainsword.


Here is the base I will use for Project Eiryss... its a resin base from Groundwerks if I remember correctly.

That bolter looks like the ornate one that comes with the command squad sprue.

Is that a sternguard srgt. with a captain backpack, iron halo and a combimelta in the background. lets see some pics of him.

Yup. The bolter is from the command squad sprue... one of my favorites.

This is an interesting looking project. I'm excited to see what she looks like with some paint on her.

Yes... but I think I used the wrong bit to drill the hole in the model... the base has the pin on it and whenever I place Eiryss on it she just topples off of the pin. I'm going to have to fool around with some green stuff so she'll stay on... or I could make a different hole somewhere else under her.

Some major changes for this model...

The boltgun and hand fell off... really it was only held together by a glob of dried glue... I should have pinned it or something.



I tried drilling another hole for the pin for her base...


...but I had to cut it short otherwise it would burst through a point between her leg and cape.


To accommodate the new, shallower, hole, I cut a little bit of the pin...


...maybe too much.


Using the new hole and shorter pin, I glued Eiryss to the base.



Still needed to do something about the missing firearm...


...so I 40k'd her up some more.


I took off her arm and replaced it with a Space Marine Scout arm holding a bolt pistol.


To balance things out I took off her other arm and replaced it with a Space Marine arm holding a chain sword.


I think it looks much better.


Next I'm going to try to clean her up a little bit more... get rid of mold lines, flash, any bits of sprue, etc...

The bolt pistol arm and weapon look really really out of scale now.

It was looking promising before!

I guess you can say this new approach is giving it a styilized feel

Primed Eiryss... I might start painting her next week.

Any updates on this? I thought it was a great conversion and was really hoping to see it finished.

Nooo, that bolt pistol arm looks terrible. Waaaay out of scale

I strongly recommend you go back and reconsider the arm. I was loving this conversion until you chopped the arm off and slapped a space marine arm on. Totally ruined it imo.

Its fine... who doesn't like a girl with ape like arms?
