Attached please see a couple of the Ork compound I am working on. Nothing too fancy just trying to set up some defensible and interestring Ork themed buildings and terrain. Any comments or constructive criticism is welcome. I still need to do some sanding, add rivets and glyphs and obviously paint and flock but any other ideas are welcome.

Off to a great start. Maybe, this is a mech refueling/repair station? I see a lot of open space, and only partial cover throughout. Loathe as I am to suggest this, perhaps you wouldn't mind taking a spare war truck (yeah, who has a spare war truck?) or some vehicle and putting it up on a hydraulic press? Like this is where they go to fix their bikes n stuff maybe? It might offer you some more cover, and also make the open space seem less "sparse".
I'm full of (silly) ideas tonight.

I'd make the walls higher with some access gates/openings in places. Not so high they block LOS, but about waist high on an ork and a little more scrappy and irregular looking so they look like they could actually provide cover.
This piece will get use in Planetstrike.

Fun model.
I would start by adding some "orky" struts to the platform. You can use Popsicle sticks to make irregularly arranged struts. You can either stain them or paint them depending on what material you want them to represent.
The ladder looks a bit weird, I would consider just putting a rope with knots in it. That seems a bit more orkish. You can soak some twine (after adding knots every inch) in wood glue, then tack it with a big stake onto the platform. While it dries you can lightly drape it a round a bottle to get a "wind blown" effect. Make sure the stake looks like it will give out at any second while actually being attached strongly with superglue. This will also make it a lot easier to move stuff around in here.
You can use the ladders for the water tank thingy. Placing them ladders on two sides would make the space balanced. Units could get on top of the water tank in order to see onto the taller platform.

I have done some more on this and pretty much is done unless I get some more inspiration. The walls are actually between waist high and mid-chest on the Orks. Anyways here are a few more pictures.

Funny how you can throw some scraps of "metal" together and PRESTO youve got nice looking Ork buildings. Good job
