Pretty much what the title says, I'm having trouble with putting depth into my models, asking for help - which wash should i use and why? i am leaning towards ogryn flesh because of the orange/brown colour it gives but does anybody have any experience with the new red wash? or recommend any other

thanks in advanced!

I always used to use black ink for really deep reds. I've not tried the black wash yet, but it is worth a try.

What kind of colour does it bring out?

try mixing either a bit of brown or blue ink with the red ink to add depth

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

This is a 15 year old paint job that I am reposing and touching up to be part of my Wraith Horde.

It is black ink over blood red, iirc.

Very annoyingly, I spun the head off flying across the room as I took this photo and chipped it in two places. :( :(

Maybe I can fix it, but if not, I had to paint some new arms for it anyway...

Thanks for the image, its a good representation of what black ink shows on red, but what would be the difference between the black ink or wash? i might try out mixing badab black with a brown/orange wash. thats for the quick replies guys

Delvin mud works well.

Devlan mud works very well on red. It shares some of the same colors, so it deepens the color and shades without making the base color look dirty.

I've used a 50-50 mix of flesh wash and red ink for my Blood Angels and any other red thing I paint. I think I got it from one of the Citadel "how to" books. Works beautifully, and easy to drybrush afterwards with a highlight.

I think one of the new washes is pretty close to this -- just thinner.

Thanks for the comments guys! i have tried the badad black wash on a test mini, went alright but came out a bit too dark so i am going to try the delvin mud and see how that goes and if I'm not satisfied i might go for the 50/50 flesh wash/red ink combo. thanks for your time guys/gals
