I am trying to get some ideas on how to paint/model my Chimera's. I have removed the lasguns since they break off and are useless under the new rules. Does anyone have any pictures of Chimera's missing their lasgun and leaving open firing ports. Also, does anyone have any neat conversion pictures or painted models they could post to give me some inspiration.

Post as many pictures as you can, thanks!

Still in the process of painting, and I kept the lasguns in place, but I did replace the turrets on all my chimeras. The top one is one of the forgeworld Hellhound turrets, while the rest all use the Predator turret.

Wow, nice clean looking models, I just love how Heavy Stubbers look. So is the on on the far right a LRBT conversion?

I have 2 Chimedatorusses (left and right hand side of above pic) based on the same conversion process. More pics in my Dakka gallery.

I love the idea of using the tracks to hide the firing ports. Simple and it works. Can't believe I've never thought of that *yoink*

I've seen other great ideas, including shaving off the ports and replacing with textured plasticard, however what I had at the time were spare track links

I only needed to cover 2 of the ports, though, as I ahd shortened the chassis somewhat.

Anyone else have some pictures and other good ideas? I think the Lasguns all really need to go since they are no longer used.

I'll see if I can post pics later on, but I used the ball ends of the lasguns and stuck them in the holes from the inside, creating inside viewports.

Here's a pic, there's a few more in the gallery if you need a different angle. The model just got its coat of DA green and the lighting is pretty bad, so don't mind the paintjob...I'll probably be painting the "orbs" to look like viewports. For those wondering: they're the ball sockets from the lasguns that come with the chimera.

BR- Most impressive. I'd love to see it at other angles and a break down of hull parts used.

This is definitely my favorite Chimera conversion.

I really like the viewport idea. Its quick and simple and makes sense. Sadly, I never would have thought of that.

About to eat your Avatar...

Looks great. The camo is a bit unorthodox, but not unlike current computer generated camo. I think the view ports could use some riveted cross frames (painted) but I know that is a pretty small area to paint in. I am not sure if masking tape would mess your paint up, does anyone know about acrylics and tape glue?

BraveRifles your tank looks kool too, very retro for the year 40,000; almost ork in a way. The missile launcher (I think that is what is is) comes with the kit? The piece I am talking about is the box shaped sub-turret on the left of the main turret. I like it though, nice bit.

The boxed in HK missile is the old old IG missile. It contains a sidewinder-esque missile. The new HK is the horrible squat chubby thing that always looks like a bolted on afterthought, no matter how nice the model looks otherwise.

Here are some pictures from different angles

For bitz its one chimera kit with a second chimera top set back and chopped off. A predator turret and lots of plastic card to build out sides and bunch of tamaya US vehicle stowage and IG bitz. The metal bit on the pack is from the hellhound hatch cover cut to fit.

Thanks guys. I was going for the M2A2 Bradly look. I did some russes to look like M1A1s to go with them (I suck at painting though)

The tracks and side plates on your Chimera are awesome, great work. I look forward to seeing painted pics

Also the Abrahms are extremely well executed. They look huge though, how do they compare, size wise to Russes? Are they Baneblade sized?
