a typical catachan army is troop heavy and armor light. as sentanals are the only IG armor exceptible in a catachan army i went looking for somthing to bulck out my army.

the landspeeder is i think perfectly suited to this roll. light like the sentanal but more maneuverable with heavyer weapon potential. iv started my conversion using sentanal pilots, camo paint scheme and camo netting. im hoping to get some pics up soon

id like some discussion in to how els to pimp this ride and posible any other vehicles that could be jungle adapted.

Well the Valk/Vend is preadapted, just go -over- the trees, vs through them, latest WD has a bit on a Catachan Air Cav unit...

Might be fun to go -way- back and get your hands on the old IG landspeeder..

Yeah the Valk is the best way to go rules-wise but I like the idea of a jungle speeder. how about using one as a Hellhound or other fast vehicle? You'd lose the skimmer rules but have a cool model.

The current model im working on is a newer model land speeder. BUT i do have a old first edition IG landspeeder unbuilt. Id like to replace the guardsmen in it for Catachan.

I also thought about canablizing the first edition for parts but i have a soft spot for old IG stuff

I was thinking of a Hellspeeder. infurno cannon mounted under a landspeeder. i was thinking some special rules about sweeping infurno death over the treetops but that may be going a little OTT

guess its time to save my pennies for a Valk.

Does it have to be a Landspeeder, My Catachans have scout on a jet bike. It is from an old Arbites jet bike with an eldar rear propulsion with the wings trimmed.

Iv considerd jet bikes and i no there were guard jet bike in 1st edition but there realy the relm of eldar. if i could get hold of some first edition stuff (its rare but posible) i may consider that as a base with some modernising needed

heres what iv done so far. as you can see iv not chosen the weapons yet. still not finished more camo netting needed for a start

I have thinking about extending that rear open area into a cabin of sorts and make the speeder into something like a UH1H assault landing ship. i tried it once but the engines did not look right for the size and I kind of scratched that project. Looking at yours, I may revive it in the future.

I´ve lengthened the structure quite a bit, and to offset the added length, I gave it an extra pair of wings made out of plasticard. More images, and WIP shots in my image folder.

You should look up the thread for =I= munda where one of the guys makes a landspeeder storm for his gangers. It looks amazing and with a few conversions / your paint job would be just what you are looking for.

No but with the Land Speeder Storm coming out soon, that may make the alterations needed much less severe. The Storm would probably make a good starting point, right down to replacing the scouts with Catachans.

One of my first ever WD had an air cowboys catachan army, made basalisks using only parts from landspeeders, even the troups where mounted on hover boards!

yeah and loads of cow boy hats. the basilisk was 3 land speeders. i was looking for all the WD with guard stuff in last night, if i find it i'l scan it and post it-if im allowed to do it?

Nice landspeeder. I think its a good idea. Hope you play with people that will allow that in your list.

I play all sorts of ways. Sometimes with just our crazyer models with as many mad rules as we can think of. but oftern we use 2ed edition rules so a IG landspeeder is all ok in them.

Xanthos iv seen your little beauty before and the first think i do when i get my hands on a landspeeder storm is base it on yours and posible another iv seen in another thred.

as for the engien looking out of place. i was thinking of a scratch built engien to fit in that big open space. having the doors open just gives me the ability to show the engien off a little more. i think i may have some toy cars around to use as a base, exsusts and such.

its great to log on and find over the weekend people have got some good stuff for me to think about im hoping by next week we should see something about finished. still looking for a second piolt tho.
