the rules for star engines reads as follows:
"The vehicle has a number of secondary engines that can be used to boost it to breakneck speeds. it may move an additional 12inch in lieu of shooting, but troops may not embark or disembark that turn"

Now ive always taken that to mean that if I unit embarked onto the transport on the moving phase of that turn, then the vehicle would be unable to attempt the 12 inch extra move in the shooting phase. However alot of people I know totally ignore this rule, I'm wondering if this is a case of people skimming through the rules and failing to read the last part of the sentence, or whether my understanding of the rule is flawed.

P.M. me for rational Eldar Advice, both on list construction or Tactics.

Also feel free to query me about rules from the Eldar and Space Marine codices, as well as the General Rule book.

The way I read it, if you plan on moving your extra 12", do NOT try and embark troops because it's not a legal move.

Nope you have it right. The rule says that if you Embarked or Disembarked, you cannot use them

It is the same with even moving flat out. If you Embarked a unit or Disembarked a unit, the vehicle cannot move more than 12" under any circumstances (except Red paint job ), something which the Ork and Eldar Players in my area keep forgetting.

Wow your right on the flat out rule too, I had never noticed that. Luckily I never move more than 12 inches when disembarking because I like my transport to be able to support fire. So I inadvertently managed to not break a rule I never knew existed.

I learnt something new.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

o.O I never knew about embarking, then moving flat out...now there's a rule I apparently *have* been breaking since I started playing. This round to you Gwar, but the battle continues elsewhere.
