I am still new to painting such tiny models; I do think you would benefit very much from a couple of coats of wash. Devlan mud, or even sepian would look great. You could do a bit of drybrushing too, but I think the wash would make the model look great as is.

Dude you have some insanely good brush control... seriously.

My only suggestion is that it isn't flashy enough. You must remember that the Tau are the headway of all Technology, they should be GLOWY. I suggest taking a light blue and and work it into their lens's, or the discharge of the pulse rifle.

Thanks for the comments! I probobaly am going to work some more bright colors into the lenses and the end bit of the pule rifle.

You know what, I love it. For a first attempt I tip my hat at thee. You have a firm grasp of a good few techniques.

My only critique is actually with the picture itself; it's a little too close. Best thing to do is resize the image so that it is slightly more to scale, on the screen, as what the mini is in real life.

Here is my first battlesuit...I wanted to work more of the dark red color into him (right now it's only on his shoulders and chest), but i couldn't find a place. Well anyways, here he is. Please Comment!

Good looking stuff!

Although they look like they are a little gritty. Did you priime them in high humidity?

Yeah, i noticed that too. I think the problem is that i'm not using a very high quality primer, and also it was probobaly a bit too humid.

The painting lines a clean, thats key with the tau. Looks nice. As previously mentioned, get better primer or find a low humidity place to prime.

That is really good as well. I would recommend painting the "eyes" on at least your crisis suits. A simple coat of red followed by 2 other askewed conentric shades that are lighter reds each time.

Looks really good. I would bring up some highlights in the grey areas. The detail is hard to see. Also, as previously mentioned paint the lenses on the head. Adding small touches of other color to lenses and such can really make a model look a lot better. Also, I would try to add another color to the base. Maybe dry brush a lighter color grey over the rock. Just to give it a bit more depth. Other than that, the highlighting you are doing looks really nice.

If you get a gritty result from priming. You can give them a gentle rub with an old tooth brush before painting to get the grit off.

I'm probobaly going to get some new, better quality primer. I heard that the "Armory" brand is good. Any other primers i should be aware of?

Nice, as a Tau player you should color the lens. I like the fact that you didn't make them all bright.

These are awesome! I love the color of your Tau, and I actually kinda like the grittiness on them I've got to fix some of my Ork's because they turned out pretty gritty too, pretty sure it was the humidity, I was using the amory primer and it is pretty good.

But yeah, I love your Tau and your paint lines are amazing! I wish my hand was that steady.

It's actually very good!
The only thing that I would recommend is to make SOME things a little shinnier or colourful. Not the armour (it's fine as it is) but something like the lenses perhaps?

They look good, but you should add a colour to the lenses to make them stand out a bit.
But I like the darker look of them at the moment, I wouldn't make them brighter though.

Alright, I finished my first gun drone. I plan to add dark red sept (i think that's what there called?) markings onto all of my figures now also...i'm currently working on my commander of the fire warriors, and i'l have pics of the whole group so far once i finish him.
