Alright guys, this is a battle report for my second ever (non-Vassal) 40k game with a friend who is relatively new as well. Bear in mind that I realize I probably spent WAY to many points building my nids and used a strategy that wasn't executed very well, my goal was to beef up my fex's and run the warriors/stealer squad behind them until they were in close combat range but, it didn't work all that well, lol... a lot of obvious noob stuff in here but, I learned quite a bit and any tips/criticism/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Ranged Warriors 1 killed by Terminator Squad, genestealer kills one terminator, dreadnaught fails to wound ranged warriors

Terminators exit Land Raider and assault Genestealers, Assault Marines jump toward genestealers. Terminators, Assault Marines and Land Raider kill genestealer squad

Genestealers manage to kill 2 Terminator's before they all die, Assault marines kill all but 3genestealers and the broodlord broodlord/genestealers kill all but 4 tac marines

End of game - Clear win by the Ultramarines

Sorry it gets a little crazy there at the end and my memory started to fade, lol. Hope it still made sense!

What I would have done differently looking back, I think I would have made all my genestealers start off the table, used a lictor instead of some of the excess biomorphs (mostly to re-roll reserve rolls.. plus they are fun!) and I would have moved my army closer together letting my fex's screen and advance on the brunt of the army while my genestealers (hopefully) flanked from the sides.

Thanks for reading!

Regardless of the outcome, both armies are well painted, and the terrain is way nicer than anything in my FLGS.

Bottom line: don't get too down on yourself - it's your second game in RL!

well done

80 points for a s6 w2 genestealer that has to roll on the deepstrike mishap table just to exist. No. He'll die to just about anything he charges that isn't absolutely helpless in assault anyway.

Broodlords are generally a bad idea because the squad that they must take can no longer fleet.

Your genestealers have taken so many upgrades that you are fielding too few of them.

You should probably read Yakface's article about equipping Carnifexes. For one, Regenerate is a waste of points because you'll be lucky to have it activate once in a game. There is no reason to give them rending claws. Especially in 4th. Literally none. There is nothing you cannot wound, and nothing that rolling a 6 on your armor penetration score cannot penetrate already without the extra D3. Besides, Monstrous Creature.

You could probably save so many points from excess biomorphs to pay for whole Elite Carnifexes.

Assault termies with Stormshields have a good chance to just laugh at Genestealers, honestly. Try shooting them with some of our lovely Twin Linked, Living Ammo Yes I can really re-roll all that firepower. Tyrants with 2x devourers, Enhanced senses and toxin sacs are great for that.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Good job on this report. Simple and clean.

Sorry to say that i would NOT bring this list onto the table if i play Tyranids because it taken too much upgrade on units in order to furfill the points it required due to lack of model supplies IMO. also it seems not very balanced list than Ultramarines.

Thanks Sadetta. In retrospect, I realize that I spent WAY to much for way too little. That's a big part of why I like posting these because, it helps me see what went wrong and what I can do better later as well as get advice from others.

Have read the follow up fight? If so what did you think? You can find that here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/244312.page#779543

Thanks for your input
