I've been thinking if there is a way to end some of these rules discussions since they mostly turn into flames and just seem to cause a lot of bad blood. If someone who playes at Warhammer World or at Glen Burnie Bunker were to give the answer they play by (for whatever the question is) the store uses would it make a difference and help resolve some of the questions?

This forum is fantastic. I've gotten so much info from here I never need to go anyplace else. But sometimes answers get lost in all the arguing like with the Valk/Vand stuff. I just think that answers from the source might help tone things down a bit.

Somewhere.

The problem is that we'd just be playing via store rules, not official FAQs and errata, which a lot of people won't tolerate. And bear in mind even different people within Games Workshop are quite likely to give you different versions of a rule decison.

It's a good idea...but it would be more helpful for the people there to start chanting, 'FAQ FASTER YOU fethers!' Angry Marine style. Maybe they'd get the hint.

I see your point. I was hoping that maybe something that came from Warhammer World in the UK or a Bunker like the one at the US HQ at Glen Bernie would somehow mean more than what a random redshirt said at a certain store.

I can usually see each side of the discussions here but I guess it all comes down to dicing off with your opponent unless there is a FAQ.

For 40K you can download the Adepticon FAQ made by a committee including Yakface. It's as near an 'official' answer as you will get.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Ha! Way to stoke the flames, Killkrazy!

GW has expressed many times over that they will not provide an airtight ruleset; they just don't want to put the resources into it. They consider tournament gaming (which is where the tight rules set really matters) to be a niche market and not their focus, so I doubt we'll see anything official from GW anytime soon.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I disagree with some minor points of the adepticon faq but over all 99 . 99999999999 percent of it is excellent and its a very excellent resource.

I wish it was updated more.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

When flame wars start because of rule interpretations, I get annoyed. It says in the rule book, they cant cover every single detail in this game. So when some arises that isnt covered, a friendly talk should be what you do to figure out how to go about the rule. At my table, its very wimple. No one yells/argues/bitches about rules and or the rare "what do we do then?!?!" happens. A simple, well how bout this, you counter ok but then we should do that. Everyone is happen, game continues lol

Casual gaming could use tighter rules too. I know an Ork player who still wants to know how his Deff Roller works, among other things. Not acknowledging tournament gaming is not an excuse for being slack. What they need to do is realise that they are the only ones who consider themselves a miniature company and shift into being a proper gaming company.
