Hey up, and thanks for looking.

This project log will follow my attempts to convert a warband (or two or three or...) for Mordheim. First up I'm going with the Possessed.

So far I've established that this will be a Tzeentchian-themed warband, I will mostly use Flagellant and Wizard parts from the WHFB Empire range (and a Chaos Spawn bit and Green Stuff here and there too), and that I will use the rulebook's artwork as inspiration for random surreal details to individualise each model.

Here's the first WIP:

In case the picture don't convey the idea well enough, I'm going for tentacles going down from the back of his head (just like Horrors) and also his face has gown a beak too which needs to be blended in more still.

The Green Stuff work isn't finished yet of course, he still needs more head tentacles and he'll also get some spikes bursting out of his back too (lovely!).

Comments, criticisms, questions and suggestions welcome, especially at this early stage.

Very cool, very Tzeentchian, I've always wanted to try something Tzeentchian aswell, poor ol' Change Lord is too neglected, its all about Khorne and Slaanesh these days....

Anyway, the claw looks awesome, not sure if I'm keen on the nose but it does make it look very "witchy"

Looks awesome, keep it up

Ah, let's get back to this Mordheim malarkey!

Ziggy Da' Goon, thank you for your comments. As I've discovered from other people's feedback the nose is probably the most debatable part of the model and so I'm still mulling over how I should continue with that part (however by your "witchy" comment, I'm taking that as a good thing because this is Tzeentch after all!).

Anyway, less chat for I have some PIP shots of the first Mutant:

I made the pictures larger than I usually do some one can appreciate the details and my "stripy" painting techniques and because other people asked for it. (although my camera seems to make it look more blended than it is in reality. Oh well ) I'm using a lot of Dhenub Stone for the pale sicky flesh, Fenris Grey and some of the washes for the more mutated parts and Hourmagaunt Purple layered up from a Chaos Black / purple for the robes.

I think I should mention before anyone else asks, the nose is going to a carnival mask of sorts, so any ideas on how to paint it to convey that idea is much wanted.

So, comments and critique especially appreciated.
C'mon Dakka!

Interesting painting style; I like the muted tones.

As for the mask: have you considerd a Venetian carnival mask? You'd nee it to cover the eyes then as well, but the big nose reminds me a bit of these.

For those wondering what a Venetian mask looks like:

A Squeaky Waaagh!!

Camkhieri: "And another very cool thing, my phones predictive text actually gave me chicken as an option after typing robot, how cool is that."'

Meercat: "All eyes turned to the horizon and beheld, in lonely and menacing grandeur, the silhouette of a single Grot robot chicken; a portent of evil days to come."
