Well decided to start a different blog seperate to this from the WoC as this is purely a tournament army with some probable additions once the GT is over, still this army is got to be finished by late November so it will be nice to see an army grow in a short space of time (for me at least).
Well the list is not set in stone yet but it will include 2 dragons in 2000pts and obviously 20 archers as my unfortunate must have core units so I'm going to go ahead and get started with them.
During much deliberation about the color scheme Luna gave me some helpful advice in regards to color scheme etc so I have no decided on Red Robes (in part to represent the fact that most of my army is from Caledor) Bone sash's/underrobes and pure silver armour, none of this mithril inked blue rubbish.
Anyway here is a PiP and prototype archer for the army.
C&C always welcome and appreciated.

Very crisp red, quite fitting for High Elves. Curious to see how you'll do your dragon princes, they're one of the 'eavy metal teams most uninspired paintjobs, yet they're great models....

Your not wrong there, thanks for the comments.
As for the DP I think they will be metal with a little gold and the insides of the wings on thier helmets will be a lacquered red to go with the Red robes they will be wearing, or something like that anyway.

I like HE´s ... even though quite a few of their models look horrible. This should be a nice blog though.
And your choice of color is great. Im guessing youll be going with gold instead of silver for metallics? The red is looking really smooth btw.
edit: nevermind: i see now, that you already mentioned gold

Well update time my test mini is finished.
Overall I am pretty happy with the scheme I think the colors tie together nicely.
Things I am not happy with - the Hair and Skin, I need to get back into painting skin again (been painting too many marines for too long) only issue is high elf faces are very small and detailed so i'm sure painting skin will come back to me with practice again, same with the hair not found a concrete scheme but that kind of dirty blonde was easy and quick to do for the test mini.
Still look forward to hearing what you guys think.
Oh also ive left the base just sanded as i am undecided on what color i am going to do the bases as of yet probably grey/ash waste style so its not too bright on a model with a pure red cloak, still what does everyone think?

Wow! This model looks really good I will definitely be following your blog
I actually like the contrast of the brown, and if they're from Caledor you could use bleak, rocky mountain terrain to spice up some of the more elaborate bases. It will look really good for your dragons especially (I'm thinking of the dragon mage on a big red dragon on a dusty brown rock... Yeah!) with the large rock the new models come with. I definitely prefer that rock as brownish as opposed to the normal greyish... and I think it will work really well with your color scheme and background, too!

Hey well just a quick update now that I am back from Spain.
Decided to give the archers a rest for a while (began base coating another 6 and just lost the will to live unsurprising really) so I decided to start on something fun...a Dragon which is what this army is all about.
This one is going to be my Star Dragon so i've gone with an Ice Blue to nearly white color scheme for its skin, undecided as to what the scales and wing membrane will be yet torn between bone to tie it in with my archers and other elf units or purple, i'm leaning more towards the bone but i'd be interested to see what you guys think.
Anyway heres a few WIP shots, its in its very early stages yet and as you can see I've only started the skin properly on one side of model, getting all the flesh out the way first so I can really begin to have some fun with the details, i'm tempted to dragons armor black with stars on it just to make it look at little different, anyway enough rambling and onto the pics.

Bit more of an update for today, as of now i've suspended work on the Dragon and re sprayed it and put it to one side, I was not happy with the way it was looking so resolved to start again.
Instead with the small time I have had to paint this weekend I started on some more archers, some of the older metals and I was wondering how you thought the paint scheme translated from them to the new minatures so far?
C&C always welcome.

The Scale Mail armour will be silver with a green INK wash (still got some left ) so tie into the Caledorian theme, thanks for the comments.

Chestnut ink is still a great loss for the GW range if you ask me.
I use it for leather and blood, along with red ink.
By the way..

Dammit 99MDeery. This damn blog is reminding me of how much NOT painting my High Elves are getting -___-.
Great colors, so far. I almost went for Red Robes myself for my Caledor list. Opted to give myself a headache with white robes instead, though. :/.
I'm curious to see how you choose to handle the Dragon Princes. I myself was trying for gold armor on my Dragon Princes before I decided to scrap that idea. You going to go with the green-inked scale armor for the Dragon Princes?
Ooh, found the link to my nearly dead P&M blog.

Oh that is just funny, thanks that actually made me laugh.
@Jin - thanks, tbh if I was going to paint white robes I well wouldnt have even got this far, I tried it on one model a couple of years ago and well didn't get the high elves out again until a couple of months ago.
I am I figure the DPs are going to have Green Ink Scale Mail, Standard Silver Badab Black Wash Armor and Red Robes, still when I ever get around to sticking the models together I will have a better idea (they are currently still sitting in boxs) still at least least one unit is on the cards once these 20 archers are done and dusted for the army, then some Dragon Princes then a Repeater Bolt Thrower, which should give me a nice start I hope.
Also be warned i'm soon going to take a picture of my entire High Elf army soon just so you can see how much I actually own, its getting abit silly now.
Just had alook through your stuff dude, its looking nice, I wont comment on there for fears of threadromancy, but I am really liking that red armor on your Dragon Princes.

Ah, that sounds like an interesting color-scheme, though I must admit I'm having a bit of difficulty mentally visualizing it. Sounds a bit like the OLD classic colors they had back in the day (as opposed to the White/Blue studio colors they have now).
What list did you decide on, btw?
Thanks for the compliments, though I can tell from the get go that your skills with the brush far outclass mine . I should update that damn blog soon. Those horses are actually close to done (by my standards, at least).

i'll get one of those archers finished asap so you can kind of see the scheme i'm going for. As you can tell im more of a fan of the old models and tbh i really hate the studio color scheme.
I'm still undecided, i'm think of going with the second list as it has the potential to do the most damage, i'm thinking of dropping both the chariots though and adding in 5 shadow warriors and 5 ellyrion reavers instead to give me some march blocking/war machine hunting ability but tbh i need to play test properly which hopefully i'm going to start next week so once that begins I will know what performs well and what doesnt, still this blog will not finish with the 2000pt GT I have at least another 2500pts of elves sitting in a box waiting to be painted after this lot so we will see.
Dude no problem, I think its true that a painted army always looks better than bare plastic and tbh I really like you scheme once you get into the swing of painting them im sure they will come out fine.

No its Devlan Mud, I wont use my brown ink on anything other than a character, basic models arent so deserving.
Anyway its basically basecoat it with Mechrite Red over white then a heavy wash of Devlan Mud, then paint carefully around the bits you want to leave shaded with the lighter reds.

Well this weekend has been quite good in terms of painting for me, after a very very heavy night on friday i've sat down for alot of the weekend, i've got my second unit of archers sprayed up, basecoated and washed my second rank of archers for this unit im working on and got so far with this unit.
Anyway onto the pics, I also built a unit of dragon princes so once these 2 units of Archers are completed it will be time to work on them.
Thanks in advance for the C&C.

@ Jin - I havent even thought about bases yet, once i've got this first unit painted up (going to finish those 4 models tonight) I will be starting to think about how I am going to base them, they however will probably be grey bases with a brown edging but thats all undecided yet.
@Migs - Thanks for that, tbh most if not all my blogs now will be Fantasy based (once this GT army is done + the extra 3 - 4000points worth of elves is painted) I am going to be starting work on that Wood Elf army that i've had since the army book finally go re-released (wood elves have to be my favourite army out of all the systems) so expect more fantasy blogs on the way.

I like them! one little suggestion i have would be the base.
i know you are filling the largest spot ( bottom left corner )
but then it makes it look unatural ( since its not very random)
