I have been thinking about making WH40k counts as models for a while now. With a bit more practice I think I can pull off some pretty nice minis.

Overall I am not sure where this mini's "alliances" would be. Perhaps Tau, I wouldn't mind making an entire counts as Tau army. Something entirely different would be nice, like another race affiliated with the Tau. Just as Kroot and Vespids are a part of the empire.

Just wondering what people thought before I started. I will put a few concept drawings up, nothing BLOG-worthy though.

Hmmm looks kind of 'IG' to me. Oh! I know! Maybe you can do some sort of counts as WH army. And I don't just mean stormtroopers. You could say the armor on your character there is equivalent in grade to a Sister of Battle power suit or something. And instead of calling them 'Faith' abilities/points/whatevers, you can call them commands or orders (like IG).

Produce more concept art. That's how most gaming stuff starts out life as (and a lot of other things too). Draw untill your hand hurts, and then draw some more. Then step back and toss away the rubbish. Paper and pencils are cheap. GS is not.

You initial sketch is okay, but not inspiring. Keep at it.

I am working on a sketch of a battle-mage, perhaps this could be IG. The armor will have little to do with their actual anatomy, they just have the ability to fit in human armor. I'll have to finish the drawing to show what I am thinking of.

Are these guys human? Or human-like. If they are alien, then go nuts. DO some kind of anthropomorphic squids that are reliant on flame weapons, or some such.

They will be human enough to merit the stats they will be used for.

Here is what I am kinda going for with their anatomy. That is a power club arm, I just want to make one .

First one looks similar to Tau, the second one looks good as well. Maybe a new Tau ally, first role I thought of when I saw them was mechanic for some reason
They look good

I like the second one better.

The first drawing was just altered armor really, nothing special. I think the second is pretty interesting, and I will continue with that concept. Perhaps they wont have armor, so they can stand out from the army they end up being affiliated with.

I will definitely be making a power club arm though, I think it seems more practical for such a small creature. The huge power fists and claws look extremely cumbersome for a normal human; imagine walking around with a Bobcat tool attached to your shoulder... good luck getting anywhere fast.
