hey guys these are my guardsmen for my upcoming army....should they be traitors or normal grunts
i was also thinking about using them as mercenaries. the piccys arent great, but still early days and i dont have a good camera ive made the rest of the 2nd unit now, but i cba to put piccys up yet...

Make them "mercenary" looking like I have and you can use them as either loyalist or traitor whenever it suits your needs.

My only gripe is the lack of backpacks. I find guardsmen without them a bit weird. o.O

I have seen alot of guard with pig iron heads lately.Nice work thus far,can't wait for more pics soon.

For the voxcaster what about using the idea from forge world? make a blade come out of his wrist. my buddy infiltraitor did something similar with a dark eldar blade and some thread.

I have thought about using Pig Iron on my Cadians but the cost is what is holding me back. Great work on your IG and keep up the good work.

right ive now started making my platoon command squad. so far ive only made the medic. im quite proud of him and ill post up a picture tommorrow. i used a zombie head with him and it seems to have worked reasonably well. however ive started to look at bits for the platoon commander. ive found a csm powerfist which looks awsome but its a bit....MASSIVE. so what should i do? im also gonna use a zombie head on this one....ill show you what i mean soon...it doesnt look silly....hopefully. oh and does anyone have any ideas how to easily make a standard beaerer guy...im not 100% sure about this...would mercenaries run around with banners? i dunno, please tell me what you think

IMO the Kolony Militia heads (helmet + gas mask) look pretty regular and loyalist.

The various Rebel and Guard heads look more traitor.

The new Feral heads will be great if you decide to go for Traitor Guard.

You can make a standard by cutting a length of plastic rod or stiff wire. Attach a flag made of paper. You can either paint it yourself or print a ready coloured flag using colour laser printer. The paper can be shaped and stiffened with slightly diluted PVA glue.

Then you just need to find a guy in a suitable pose, drill his fist and put the flagpole in it.

The design of the head looks really nice , but they seem abit small compared to GW's sergent heads.

I am still waiting on my order of Pig Iron Kolony Militia heads to get here. I plan on using them only on the veteran squads, all the normal infantry platoons are stuck with their funny-lookin helmets .

Kilkrazy has it right on with the standard-bearer how-to. I find that the hand holding the grenade is well suited for drilling out (do they still include that in the 10 man box? I got them out of a 20 man box) to make the hand holding the standard.

I just find that guardsmen without backpacks look like they're lacking something. They look underequipped. Every guardsman I make has a backpack lol!!

Pig Iron stuff is dirt cheap for what it is. I've bought lots of different heads from different sources and I'm poorer that Dr. Zoidberg.

thx guys thanks for the howto make a banner. still, the command squad is for a junior officer, so wouild he be running around with a flag? oh and ive now made the officer (with his GIGANTIC powerfist) and also his personal vox bloke.... im quite proud of them both, even though the vox took 5 mins to make.

now for the plunge
i decided i wanted maybe 9 squads of penal legion/penal legion lookalikes (incase you cant have 9) so i decided to make the squad leaders look a teensy bit special.
now dont blame me for being a bit of a fanboy but ive not seena nyone do it before and it would look very sweet. im sure you may of heard of these guys ^^

Like I said before, ace model and loving the backpack. It all works very well albeit a tad dark. I think I will make a tut on how I take pictures, it's cheap and very little hassle. I'll let you know when I do it.

And that dude at the bottom is freakin' sweet!

lol we all love slipknot ^^ now i need to ask the general public on dakka how i would go about making these faces on models...had a bash at the long nosed one and its suprisingly hard :(

i have seen slipknot and made some of their masks for a comision and i must say some are way easyer than others

well i was thinking of doing the origonal masks at first as i had this idea for inspiration, but now id prefer the new idea. any tips as youve done them before?

One head i filed off all the detail and built it for the ground up (think it was for the clown) i will try and find the model and take picks
