this is the start of my space marines but painted orange this is a test run (no highlights)

I love orange but it needs something for the color to go with, it by itslef is i feel too much of a color, try adding another complementary color and then a contrasting one. it will sell it alot more.

Unfortunately, the only things I can make out are that it is a terminator and that it is painted orange. Could you take some closer pics?

EDIT: Actually, did you use a wash on him?

Yes black is often the colors people go with, a common orange scheme would be Orange(base) Bleach bone(complementary) and black(contrast). My suggestion is to look at halloween pics on google get some color combo ideas, and try to use them in a way that it doesnt look halloweeny....i just looked up and to the left of this quick reply and i notcied your from australia, so go ahead and disregard the halloweeny part

There is a guy at my lgs that has orange marines with white accents. I have to give him a hard time because they are pretty bright/clean looking and they make me want an orange creamcicle. Your burnt orange color is a neat choice. It will be nice to see how these turn out.

Halloween isn't soley an american holiday, its celebrated in alot of western (the ideology not by geographical location) countries.
