This is what I'm taking tomorrow.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

Personally I think you might be putting your self in a pickle because your only running 2x units of 10. Either going to DS them with the mono and or have them walk on from you back field. Guard player will give you at least a -1 to res and a flanking army might just cause you to loose out right no matter how much damage you do because of troops being the only units able to take objectives.

I think you'll do fine...keep your warriors in reserve to bring on with deep striking monoliths, and remember that you HAVE to kill enemy troop choices. You only have two troops, and you have to take away enemy troop choices to be able to win.

No tomb spyders or scarabs in here...I think you're missing out but....*shrugs* 3 Monoliths are hell to deal with.

The only other issue is that your looking at a lot of melta and getting close up to it as well. This in turn could fry your mono quick while trying to deal with troops.

Meh glancing a mono to death is no short order. If they are putting that much firepower into the one mono you should be fine.

edit: The deceiver might get shot up thought... even though he'll still take alot.

the mono's armor ignores the melta rule I believe so it's still hard as hell to bring down but I agree with two troop choices it's gonna be rough but you can pull it off, cause i'm doing the same thing with my salamanders

mono is great, and the only possibility at such amount of points

it's just that i am not sure if deceiver is the correct option, he's great, but i think lord with orb and some more warrs/immortals could do better?

Looking forward to the batreps 40kE, assuming you are gonna write some up. Would help put the naysayers to bed should you do well with the list.

At 2500, I woulda figured you would add the 3rd squad of warriors though.

The only issue I see is that you have to keep similar units together or the enemy will focus on killing one unit at a time to prevent WBB rolls. Also going without a lord w/ res orb is pretty dangerous as there will be plenty of high strength weaponry flying at you. The monoliths can just be ignored since you can just negate WBB to begin with. Also be careful deepstriking from the monolith as a hit from a battle cannon shot can ruin your day. Also this list, like any necron list, is vulnerable to dedicated close combat units. Power weapons are bad, being swept is even worse.

Thanks all, I'm going to give it my best.

@Dash: I don't like Spyders + Scarabs only because of the 'Ardboyz KP fetish. They are great in normal games though.

IDK no res orb and no close combat units, I mean your phase out is 7 or8 right?? will be hard if your facing a out flanking army, bugs and Orks will just walk on up too you and smile

I'm intrigued by your list, it certainly sounds easy to beat, but is deceiving indeed . Would you say that it might work out in a downgraded 2000pts version? You'd have to take only 2 Destroyer units, and they would be far less in numbers, as well as only fielding 2 Mono's, but the strategy would be fairly the same.

Oh and congrats on those great games!

I'd be more inclined to take..

Lord - orb, pulse, scythe
2x10 Immortals
4x10 Warrirs
2x5 Destroyers
10x Scarabs with Fields
3x2 Heavy D's.
2500 even.

At 2500, you're going to be ass deep in giant stuff with slowed av. And heaps of ordanance. You're going to get phased out in like one turn.

Scarabs will tie up anything forever. =D

There is a thin semantic line between weird and beautiful. And that line is covered in jellyfish.

Drop the Immortals for more Warriors...

Also, you can only bring Warriors in through the Monolith if you have MORE than 2 squads. Only the 3rd, 4th, etc. can enter play through it... not the minimum.

Read the reserves rule for warriors carefully. This is not the case. Read the Necron FAQ, it explains this.

Also, loading up on warriors in 5th edition is a BAD idea. This list is strong if you stop and think about it for a while.
