Hello everyone, I'm being new to the Dakka forum (and to 40k forums altogether btw) but I guess I could get some help for one of my Plague Monks...
I was trying to give my plague monk a purple glowing shield, but I'm convinced by the feel... It's supposed to emit a purple glow from the gem in the middle of the shield's rat-face's eyebrow.
Can anyone tell me what what I've done wrong? And any suggestions to make it better next time?
Thanks in advance!
(Oh, by the way, I hope I'm on the right forum for these : I'm not planning to finish my skaven warhost before long, so this should be a pretty one-shot thread... So for the moderators, I apologize if I'm doing something wrong huh ! )

One of the things that is taking away from the 'glow' feel is that the robes are lighter in tone (a much more tan brown) than the final highlight of the purple. I think that the glow should cover more of the shoulder and side that the glow is coming from, given how much glow is on the head.
Also, the glow seems a little inconsistent - if its coming from the gem, then shouldn't the side of the face be in the shadow of the shield until a little higher up? The photo angle has me guessing a little.

Yeah it's the cloak being lighter I think. And maybe not so much glow on the face, it does look like he had a terrible accident with purple ink jar.

@ Typhus: thx!! I didn't hope such an answer huh!!
@ Frantzfanon & Oldgrue: When I turned around to check which parts were being visible from the tip of the Gem, I could see that much of the face, and none of the robes... but maybe I should have made it smoother on the rat's face, as well as on the sword? (I mean less purple, more... lightly?)
And you mean that I should darken the robes to have the glow feel more natural? Like washing it with Badad or Devlan?
Thx huh...
(oh, and my camera passed away last month so I cannot take more picture... that's too bad I guess)

The purple glow seems to me, to be a bit overpowering.. It looks like less of a glow and more like an x-ray beam (hehe). Maybe try lightening the purple up a bit to make the glow more... radiant(?)
