Greetings all, this is my first post on Dakka. Some quick background I started playing 40k back in High School, took a small step back for a few years for college and have alot of unfinished projects. The first project I'ms setting my sights back on is my scratchbuilt superheavy tank for my IG army. The prime job i did a few years back didn't take very well becouse it was windy and I was cold. Now that its been a awhile since I built it I feel like its missing something or that the detials just aren't put together well enough. It was also my first large scale scratch build. Some feed back on my sadly several year project would be great.

As for the Tank itself its VDR. With lots of funs as seen below. The main gun I currently count as a mega-battlecannon. But know that the Apoclypse book is out I probably treat as a Baneblade Cannon.

Also my ability to take pictures needs to be improved, ill see about taking more.

I also have a pair of Gatling Missle Launchers for some swaping options built.

Basicaly the tank is 80% foam core board covered in plastic card or construction paper (I really regret the paper becouse it has a slightly different texture to it.) Think of it as a big hallow box with all sorts of stuff glued to it like the side tred assemblies, turrets, ect. The tracks I bought at hobby shop, they were orginally for spare treds for either a tiger or panzer RC tank kit. They only cost $12.50. Not includeing the cost of my bits from my bit box, in all I spent a little less then $25 dollars on the tank. The overall layout and design came from the Chimara top and the two Rrazorback tops I had laying around, which I used for the smaller top turret and the side turrets. The main Turret, sponsons, and the autocannon drum turrets are all built from scrach. Looking at my pics I just posted made me relise that I have no engine eghust on it which I might add not sure yet though.

I've never actually seen a Bandeblade other then pictures. Not sure how mine would compare on size. I would like to count my tank with 3 SP like a baneblade.

It comes close to a plastic Baneblade, perhaps slightly less wide.

it looks good, but i think that the larger turret should go on top.

Wow, it's interesting the way the same things stand out to an independent observers that are sometimes hard to see when you're working on something yourself!

I, too, wanted to suggest swapping the positions of the larger and smaller turrets. It would make much more sense from a military point of view (I think... I'm no expert on that!) and it would definitely look more balanced on the model!

That would do wonders for the overall look, I think . It is a very nice scratch-build as-is, though!

Looks cool.

Not to nitpick but it isn't "scratchbuilt" it is "kit-bashed".

It's pretty close to scratchbuilt, to be honest.

Anyway, I think it's really cool!

80% foamboard/plasticard/construction paper=scratchbuilt.

OT, well done. Damn fine work.

No that would be "mostly scratchbuilt".

The term "scratchbuilt" implies "made from scratch" which this is not. It is covered in identifiable bits and components from other kits. When you say "scratchbuilt" it implies "built from scratch" as in totally from raw materials...

Good job on this! Looks really good.

I like how it looks with the main weapon hunched down low like that, but it is impractical (even in game terms) in that it can't fire backwards.

So we agree it's scratchbuilt, now we're arguing over trifles

Let the man call his tank scratchbuilt.

Mmmmm.... truffles.

I think this tank looks great, and I am not convinced it will look better with the turrets switched around. Kinda tricky to make that look good, and why change something that already looks great?

I agree with Wrexasaur on this one, I think that the tank is very cool and the only thing it needs is a cool paintjob. It's extremely unique... keep it that way.

That thing is pretty damn cool looking. Some of it reminds me of the old picture of the vanquisher tank from the.....uh.... 2nd or 3rd edition IG codex. Crap now I cant remember which one it was

It is very impressive, but for some reason right now it looks more Orky than Imperial, I think moving the biggest turret to the top would help, since that's the general IG design aesthetic.

Bear in mind that I'm a very casual player, and any advice I give will reflect that tendency.
