Here is my first Project Log ever. I thought that I would post up my work in progress of my new army and see what people thought.

Aiming for around 1000pts - 1500pts but I'll see how it goes.

Looking good so far. I'm thinking the, "please, please, please don't blow up" pose is becoming standard.

I like how you're mixing in the CSM and SM bits.

I really like how you have used the Berserker bitz to make the models look dynamic! The plasma marine does look genuinely terrified and comical. Also I like the way they look like they are 'fresh' chaos marines straight from a chapter with the use of the SM bitz.

One idea, the primarch of the Alpha legion was called Alpharius but he had a twin brother called Omega. No-one really knew who was who when one of them was speaking and they where known as Alpharius Omega as a full name so discrimination was not implied while talking to them. Only one of them was killed in the Horus Heresy and Omega or Alpharius is still alive, no-one knows which but it is generally thought to be Omega who is alive.

My idea is to make a slightly larger chaos lord or a terminator lord and make him look really cool and impressive, posed, converted, headswap and uber cool armour. The lot. Do this and then put the name Omega painted on the rim of his base. Yea, basically make omega.

Sorry for the long post, just had an idea and ran away with it. ^_^

Nice mix of bits. Are you making a chaos/renagade force or just making a more dynamic loyalist one?

Actually, no one knows what happened to who, or when.

Unfortunately, GW has never really let us know what is 'canon' and what isn't.

So, while I agree that your scenario is likely, at this point, it isn't any more possible than any other scenario involving the 2 Primarchs of the Alpha Legion.

Anyway, good to see more of the Emperor's Most Faithful Legion around!

That last line is the sole reason I believe Alpha Legion should never touch a daemon.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Book of Epistles of Lorgar

I know the details around the primarchs are a bit hazy especially with the chaos ones. I was just thinking it would be a cool cameo apperance from a primarch just for kicks in this particular army. As well as this it is an excuse to spend an inordinantly large amount of time and effort on his modelling and make him look. AWESOME!

O H I am in the Webway...

Omegon. Omegon was the head of the Alpha Legions Effrit Stealth Squad. Everyone is bald and had the same eye color and same skin tone and they all go by Alpharius.

Spoiler to "Legion"

Spoiler:
Alpha Legion are not Chaos they are renegade. True GW doesn't have "official" fact but due to the book "Legion" they are shown the future (the Horus Heresy and what happens after) by a Cabal of species that try to protect the Universe against chaos. They see that if Horus wins that the galaxy will be brought to Chaos to a short period of time, then Horus will regret what he has done and start a Crusade to rid the galaxy of Chaos and kill off humanity but stop the spread of chaos indefinetially. On the other hand, if the Emperor wins then the human race will slowly but surely turn to Chaos and Chaos will truly rule the galaxy. When Alpharus and Omegon see this they decide to turn renegade and (with the Emperors true wishes to eradicate chaos from the galaxy in mind) try to kill the emperor. Which they are still doing today. They are not Chaos Marines, they are Renegade Marines. Akin to the Soul Drinkers of sorts (if you have read the books). It's the same reason why Alpha Legion in the last codex weren't allowed to summon daemons, only their cultists could, it's because they are not chaos.

From 40klexicanum

During the Heresy Alpharius appeared more interested in proving his own Legion's worth by fighting, at every chance he got, the best of the Loyalist legions. Thus, even after Horus was cast down and the Heresy over, the Alpha Legion kept on fighting, moving more and more towards the galactic east, towards the Ultramarines. It was on the world known as Eskrador that Alpharius and Roboute Guilliman would meet for the last time.

Believing that Guilliman would adopt his standard Codex deployment procedures, Alpharius was surprised by the Ultramarines, as a splinter force including their Primarch made a quick strike at the Alpha Legion's headquarters. Both Primarchs met in combat and Alpharius was killed. Believing the combat over, for who could ever survive the loss of their Primarch in battle, the Ultramarines were taken by surprise by the remaining elements of the Alpha Legion, when they struck back a day later. After a week of constant fighting and heavy losses, the Ultramarines strike force managed to reunite with their main elements, and quickly evacuated the planet.

Even though they had lost their Primarch, the Alpha Legion had soundly beaten the Ultramarines, who proceeded to bombard their foes' position from outer space. It should be noted, however, that Alpharius's death is still considered suspect even by the Ultramarines, and he may still be at large.2 On the other hand, it is possible that 'Alpharius' did indeed die and 'Omegon' took sole command of the Legion. Whatever the truth, the Primarch of the Alpha Legion has not been seen since.

I love the way you made your models look. Very nice! I like the almost loyalist feel a lot. I can't wait to see how you will paint them though!

Sorry to drag your excellent modeling blog off topic a bit...

...but, you need to keep reading.

The article that bit is taken from?

The whole account is called into question.

The Ultramarines THEMSELVES have no record of the events taking place!

And, the Inquisitor responsible for bringing it to light?

Later disappears and is branded a renegade, possible in league with the Alpha Legion!

So...

...don't believe the hype!

Alpharius lives!

ON TOPIC:

Please DO build up models for BOTH of the Primarchs - I think you'd do a great job!

Alpharius, in places I've read it says that Alpharius/Omegon died and the other lives, end of story. So I'm interested to know where you got your info from.

From the INDEX ASTARTES article.

Which, of course, predates LEGION by quite a bit, so there is NO mention of OMEGON. At all.

Most of what we 'know' about the Alpha Legion, pre-LEGION, comes from that article, which originally appeared in some odd White Dwarf, years ago and was reprinted in one of the INDEX ASTARTES books (four volumes, I think?), but I'm not sure which...

Note to Nighteyez, just try and make them, they would look awesome and it's probably going to make some guy go off on a rant in a game store about the horus heresy and then you can use this thread to say AHA! They BOTH live, know where's your precious argument, huh, huh, HUH?

Mind you I do like fluff arguments, particularly ones about orks and the heresy ^_^

Oh lol I just copy pasted from 40k lexicanum I thought it was interesting. I don't know if any of that is true or not TBH. Yeah it even said in your quote "copied from 40k Lexicanum" lol...

But yeah having Omegon and Alpharius models would be SWEET.

I've never been a fan of Chaos... But I enjoyed 'Legion' thoroughly. Seeing your work, and reading some of this fluff here, I may just grab that Codex and start the Legion. As for the Alpharius/Omegon debate. If I recall, both of them looked unremarkable in comparison to their Legion. They blended in, adding to the mystery...
Also, Omegon wore black armor.

Models look great sir! Consider me inspired!

Firstly Cheers guys for the C&C, really appreciate it.

Secondly, concerning Alpharius and his brother Omegon and whether Robert Guiliman actually killed either of them. Well for those of you who have read Legion then you would also know that there is a THIRD option for who could have been killed and that is the captain of the first company who was about the same height and build as both the primarchs.

Hopefully there will be an update soon. Working on the assault marines and second tactical squad.
