From BoLS:
-Necrons are further along that that, and Mike (???, unclear) has been dropping hints of what we may see in an upcoming Necron codex in various books.

I have found two (possibly four) of these hints in some of the new codicies

For Sure

IG- Yarrick has what is obviously a WBB roll. The deathstrike missile launcher is like the monolith in that its main weapon can't be destroyed.

What these say to me is that WBB and the monoliths indestructability are here to stay

Possible

Ork- One of the Weirboys psychic powers allow him to deep strike out of combat (veil of darkness anyone) While the Shokk attack gun's Zoink result 'ports the Big mek into close combat (bad for him but lets say a squad of pariahs is able to do this)

The reason i'm starting this thread is that i want to see if anyone else has noticed rules that seem out of place almost tacked on that may be in there to test the water for the new necron codex. Also if there are any new types of necron units or vehicles that appear in black library novels tell me about them to.

I agree. There are lots of hints out there, but no solid proof yet.The Word Bearers novels have Wraiths killing Terminators with relative ease.wraiths with power weapons would make them worth taking then.

Posted by Arkaedin on Warseer (and the source of the BOLS rumors):

No, sorry, what it means is that one of the developers whose first name is Mike (last name I couldn't understand because of Jervis' accent) has taken a liking to the Necrons and has been toying with a lot of new ideas which he has been throwing into codices, supplements and the rulebook to gauge opinions on them and to create background information on new units (and fluff ideas) in case they make it into the future codex. Jervis told me to look closely at anything that mentions necrons and any future releases because they will most likely hint at what the new codex will be like. He implied that the tiered Necron lord rumor is true as well, but never said it outright.

With Necrons more than a year off (at this point) there's nothing to be getting excited over. As pointed out: wishful thinking.

yeah sorta got alittle exicted over nothing. but still i do think the things i posted from the IG codex are valid as they are rule originally in the necron codex. I imagine they are testing the water as in if they want to keep these rules

Yeah and Guard used to be the only ones with nade launchers... Along came the space marine codex and they got them a +1 Str... Guard everywhere were like sweeeet. Cant wait till out dex comes out.. GL will actually do damage now...

Along came out dex.... Old stats..
Two armies who draw munitions from the same place somehow have different damage from the same damn gun.

See where im going with this?

How are rules that Necrons have already had from day one being mirrored in newer units mean that they are getting "new" rules?

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

yeah i see your point but you didn't have gw specifically saying they were testing those rules in the Space marines codex to see if they work in the gaurd codex where as here you do. although that doesn't guarantee that they WILL include the rules it just means they MIGHT.

So you do have a point there.

@railguns

I'm saying they're testing to see what rules they keep (also when a rule is ripped straight out of an older codex they tend to catch my attention then a rumor like this comes around and . . . yeah see how this all started)

Hmm. And how is an Assault Cannon held by a SM rending, while held by a Demonhunter/WitchHunter not? . . .

Wraiths with Power Weapons is a much needed addition.

Hell, any Necron with a power weapon sans Lord would be great.

I dont see your logic in thinking that other codexes have hidden information. Its like finding the number 13 in everything. Anything is there if you look for it enough.

If I lose it is because I had bad luck, if you win it is because you cheated.

I don't see any reason to think that GW test new ideas by releasing bits of rules in other codexes.

They are unable to produce FAQs, which shows they cannot respond to simple, unambiguous queries. How would they be able to make sense of a bunch of complicated anecdotal evidence about rule effects even supposing that anyone bothered to send it to them.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

This seems more a hint towards fluff than searching for wayward rules hidden in other codices.

I'm thinking he's hinting more at what some are hoping to see with Chaos Dwarves after Gav Thorpes Dwarf novel hinting at walking Golems etc.

So I'd be more inclined to see if any new C'tan are mentioned in upcoming fluff, any new styles of Necrons and anything odd like Necrons being more numerous etc?
