I currently have a Belakor as a Bloodthirster and have been contemplating an additional GD. However the current BT doesn't do it for me at all. I was wondering on thoughts for stand ins that would be acceptable on a standalone basis or with conversion for 40K RTT level.

So far ideas are the usual
*FW Khorne DP or Unbound
*Balrog (whats a Balrog size vs. conventional BLoodthirster
*converted HT or BT base with HT bits.

Others?

Thinking in similar manner for a Slaanesh GD.

I would definintely say the first two are fine, but not sure on third. If your looking to go outside gw as well... look into ultraforge... they have a really nice khorne type gd

For a bloodthirster, I've liked the look of this fella, with the addition of some wings:

Thats tripped out. Looks like resin. They have a nice giant succubus as well but couldn't use due to rugrats in house.

The ultraforge stuff is really good. I have a bunch of their demons, and for approx the cost of a GW greater daemon, you can pick up the ultraforge one. They're not so good if you plan to play in GW stores or official tourneys, but otherwise, they're great.

Here's my wardemon in action last weekend (and the greater wardemon can be seen a little beyond him)

Looks like the great war demon is a little oversized, but the standard one is right on point.

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

A bloodthirtster can, with a bit of work, look really nice - the main thing that they keep ruining is the head - I remember seeing one at my FLGS a long time ago that used a plastic dire wolf head - bulked out a little with GS, and it was reposed a little and the wings bent so that they curved a little more - it also had it's whip hand replaced by a hand holding a terrified guardsman that it was snarling at. It looked really dynamic and imposing too.

The balrog is a brilliant base for a bloodthirster.

If your confident about your green stuffing abilities then I'd definitely use it!

It's not too pricey either!

Cheers,

Jack.

yes the head, axe and wings are my main objections.

How big is a balrog in comparison sizewise?

I think they are around the same size... if not the Blood thirster is a tiny bit bigger. The balrog's hand could be easily repositioned to hold an axe. The head is actually really cool... and the wings are fine, just add some spikes??

Add some brass plates to it, and it will look insane.

Cheers,

Jack.

Balrog is an oft used alternative. Thought one popped up on Dakka once. Couldn't find it, but a quick search on google image found this fellow...
