I started out making a borg army, using the Ravener/wraith model and was going to use different space marines and orks or whatevea converted with necrons for basic troops but when I started looking at the nids and necrons codex's I soon changed my mind and just went for a straight necron/tyranid army or necronids,

A bold concept. A lot of the conversions I really like, but some of them just scream "pick two similar units from the armies and swap parts". It would be nice if you could work in some blending between flesh and machine, like add some tyranid parts to the large metal destroyer areas, etc.

Ha, that ripper is wearing a scarab for a hat! So cute.

Anyway, I love the idea of biomechanical nids, never really seen that before. And some of the conversions actually look pretty nice, but I have to echo ph34r's comment, a lot of them (like the gaunt warriors in particular) just look like uninspired parts swaps. I second the need for some more blending between machine and flesh.

Agreed. Some of this is awesome but others just look like basic head or arm swaps and don't really work.

I can honestly say that is the oddest army I've ever seen but it does have an odd charm to it XD

It could be that a Necron tomb has been infested with spores, or something along those lines, if you want to make some background!

Sorry if this is insulting.

None of this looks even like it could happen. The monolith alone looks just silly.

Painting is good though.
Bases are ok.

This is the main issue. Exoskeleton creaturs can not have skeletal attachments. Scientifically not even a concept. You can not attach the two together. Sure glue works great but I can't even go into the many issues of way this is not working.

A lot of hard work went into this but for me it was not a success.

i would have liked them a bit more if you hade gone for a biomechanical paint scheme as opposed to the combined Nid/Necron paint scheme.

but you did some really clever conversion work.

this actualy could have fluff to it, they say the necrons were all once humans right? why not the stargods do there evil tricks on a small splinter of hive fleet kraken. its possible and could of happened out in the void and suddenly this ancient bio mechanical cross over apears in the imperium and confusion is sprung in the ordo-xenos?? im not too fond of necron fluff but this is my vauge idea?

anywho yea the ripper swarms look awsome and the ravener is EPIC, im not too keen on the zanthrope head on the destroyer and the necron wariors with the bio guns but still is done well

looks good, could go with a different paint scheme to blend the 2 sets of bit a bit better.

atm it looks like the nids have used the spare bit from necrons to replace bits they lost, or the other way around..

fluff wise taking an idea from doc who... necrons tomb is blown up and the tomb spiders uses the only bits lying around to repare the army.

The ravener-wraiths are pretty awesome, and I like the tomb spider as well. I do agree that some GS work would finish the army beautifully, maybe some ribbed areas on the destroyer bodies, that kind of thing.

I like the idea, but agree that the paint scheme could be more cohesive if it were consistent and that seaming the biological and mechanical would be more fluid with a bit of GS. There's a lot of potential to a concept like this, allowing you to run the army as either army list easily. Any ideas for Pariahs or Immortals? Keep at it!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Thank you for all the comments, yes very few people dislike the idea and I'm cool with that, I've not done anything with this army for a long time, I have some ideas for Pariahs and Immortals but the nids codex changed and it now looks like the necrons changing to so I'll have to wait and see....

I really like your army. I have seen a few like this before, but your's has more of a Tyranid Bio-mechanical feel to it. If you get the check out these Tyracrons for some more inspiration for your army:

Congratulations. This is the most terrifying, non-4chan thing I have ever seen on the internet.

Other than some of the admittedly odd part swaps, I think overall the project looks ace.

Some of your stuff looks really nice....I like the 6 legged thing build out of a destroyer hull and Carnifex parts.....but then again some of it literally just looks like you glued Necron and 'nid parts together.

It's your models and I like what you did there do you p[lay them as nids or necrons? my only issue with it is if you have a hybrid version of the two codex's cause the codex for any race is writen to be balanced and taking a little from pile A and a little form pile B can create a very unhinged and unbalanced rules set, but its a game and if your opponant agrees to use your own rules ten so be it.

I salute your imagination and modeling / painting skills
