Thought I had sorted out a trade with 'Groo the Wanderer' for his Tau army http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/250244.page Sent him an Eldar army in exchange via registered post last Thursday which was signed foir the following day but have heard nothing from him since. I have tried repeated PM's to find if there has been a problem but nothing... It seemed ok as he's been a member since January, seems to have completed a trade before and turned down extra Eldar for another trade I offered before posting the stuff to him.
I hope he see's this and contacts me if there has been a problem rather than him being a scammer.
If anyone has completed a trade with him could they try contacting him for me to see whats happened?
Its got me down more as the army was going to be painted for my son for xmas as he's really taken an interest in 40k since I let try Soulstorm on the PC...
Mick
(apologies to the MOD's if this is not a done thing but I'm hoping it will either sort the problem or at least warn other Dakka traders to beware)

Hey thanks for the notice, im running a painting service on the dakka swap shop painting service list and people might feel a bit unsafe because of that mishap but be assured that dakkadakka wont let scammers on the site and will probably ban them, if you dont get a reply i would report the scammer (if he is so) for fraud.

Although it is important to get this information out there for other users once all lines of communication have been exhausted, DakkaDakka does not monitor trades.
Here is an excerpt from the rules:
"Dakka is NOT a trading site and there are absolutely no safeguards in place to guarantee that your transaction will be successfully completed. In all cases when making a trade or sale set up using this forum, Caveat Emptor (buyer beware). The owners and moderators of Dakka cannot and will not help you in any way if something goes wrong."
I'm sorry, DakkaDakka will not ban a potential trade scammer. Read here for the complete rules.

We're both in the UK. Had a heads up re Bartertown, seems the Tau he's meant to be sending me were from a trade he did with a guy in the States who had to wait six months to get his part of the trade... Saying that though, until recently he seems to have been a good trader over there.
If he has a problem I just wish he would let me know or just return the Eldar I sent him.

How far away is he from you (approximately)?

That is just too bad. Perhaps it would be a good idea if people engaging in trades did so via eBay or something? You could post your Eldar army at a "buy it now" price and he could do the same with his (at the same price).
There would be some fees to pay, but that might be a small price to pay for the added security provided by eBay.

Taht really sucks, What part of scotland is he from I'm off up to the highlands on saturday I could nip in for you
But in all seriousness, Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I think we need a sticky for bad trading experiences, just so that people can be aware of them.

Well I've just heard from him, he's working double shifts right now and his post office can only do this sort of mail on Mondays and Thursdays as its only a little village where he lives (this is believable over here). This means I should get the Tau next Tuesday or Wednesday. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves me wrong which I'm hoping he won't.

That is a nice outcome. I can hardly imagine someone who was REALLY intent on shafting you would go to the trouble of contacting you and explaining, only to not send it after all! So, looks like all will be good!
That is very good news, and I do hope the chap sending the Tau can get some time off work. Double shifts are never fun.

Communication is huge. I'll tolerate one heck of a lot as long as the person I'm dealing with keeps me in the loop via PMs/emails. Given what I've read about this person and the fact that he's communicating with you now, my money is on you getting your stuff sooner or later. Good luck!

Hi there
I just got this via email...
"Hi Lee'
your an absolute star mate! Came home to the happiest boy in the world today! All here in good order. Anytime you want to do another trade I will be happy to (just let me know if your working double shifts though... ).
Cheers again, from Connor and me."
I've emailed/Pm'd as often as possible as after doing 14-16 hours at work, the wife and life take priority. And since my postal service consists of a visit to our only convienance store twice a week (monday and thursday) for 4 hours (930 to 1230) my 5am to 6pm-7pm hours made it hard. Luckily I had my son post it as soon as the day rolled around. I always ship as soon as I'm able (this trade took from start to finish 12 days) and having been on the recieving end of several bad trades I always bear in mind the fact that we are all at the mercy of many factors we can have no control over... as I found out when I got the tau.
cheers

As Lee said, all through in good order and a happy son, who could ask for more!
Communication goes a long way when trading with people and people keeping their word, as Lee did, goes a long way with me...
