Today is August 13th, only 2 weeks away from a local 1750 toury. Since I have not been very productive painting wise the last few weeks (real life kept interfering with painting), I am posting this sprint to a fully painted toury army to give me the Umpth to see it all done.
This is not an Ultra competitive army, just a semi-mech list to have some fun with. It will also be a dry run to tweak my list for WWW3 next month. If there is any army list questions, I can post my list in the Army List Forum. Not pictured is the Vendetta that my Vet Squad goes tooling around in.
Of course, C+C is welcomed
Keep in mind that these are pictures detailing the starting point, all of these tanks have a long way to go still.
All of the tanks will eventually look the the one in my Leman Russ C+C thread from a few months ago.

Finally came up with a regiment # to add to the standards of my Infantry.
Made a lot of progress yesterday, managed to get all of my tanks base coated and the layer of filters\grime on them. I also added basing materials to my Valk and rough rider base. With any luck I can get all of my tanks (3 Chims, 2 Hydras, 3 assorted Russ, and 1 Salamander) to the last pre-weathering stage before I get drafted into other projects this evening. I also need to get a few more parts for the Rough Riders from my local game store.
My camera ran out of batteries, so I did not get the WIP of the Hydras that I wanted, but they are painted to match the rest of my tanks.
Comments and Critiques are appreciated, as they are just in base coats it is still very easy to change things.
One of my Chimeras:
Command Salamander (Counts as a Chimera for my HQ):
Executioner:
Vanquisher (The barrel has a miscast that I was not able to repair correctly, so it will get a cammo netting wrapping):

Looks really good sir! You would be done way sooner if you didn't paint everything to such a high standard, but I commend your commitment to a good looking army.

Simon: Thanks. I have had this army for years (every since they first came out in fact) and have been painting on them every since (with various levels of skill). The hardest part is undoing all of the bad paintjobs that I personally did back in the day lol.

Ah yes, painting tanks is very rewarding, but don't forget the poor bloody infantry! That is probably where you will get bogged down, if you are anything like me. Do you paint them assembly-line style, one color at a time, or do you paint a single model at at time?

Fox: Actually, with the exception of the HVY weapons, the ratlings, and the astropath the infantry is finished. I have about 70 or so all painted up and ready for duty if needed. In fact I was very surprised at how few infantry my lists have been using recently.
As to how I paint them, mass assembly line style. One color at a time, then move to the next. It is difficult to tell in the photos, but each color has between 3-6 stages to it. I will see if I can get some close ups in a little bit.

Ugh, the Heavy Weapon teams are not so fun. I should try painting the troopers BEFORE gluing them to the base, but that only works with mortars. Any other HWT needs the gunner to be somewhat attached already. I just hate trying to wiggle my brush around other stuff on the base...
About a week and a half, I had to get 3 and a half whole squads painted the day before a tourney... without breaking my consistency in method. That was not so fun either. I am impressed that you have so many infantry already painted up! Keep up the good work man.

The infantry uniforms colours look much better than the official ones. I have painted mine in the same colours actually, copied from the pages of an old White Dwarf.

In Reverse order of comments:
Black: The Blue Trouser and dirty brown pith helmet of the "official" color scheme always bugged me. I think I saw this color scheme on a Mordian Iron Guard model in the 2nd edition codex. Ty for the luck part, I am up against several really good players who are hard core about it. I am more of a FUN gamer who will throw in things into my army just because it is cool. So far this has served me fairly well, but will see how this goes in cut-throat toury style gaming.
Fox: After I have finished this sprint to the end I will take the whole army (everything that is painted that is) to the LGS and take some snaps.
Unistoo: I actually have managed to get my hands on some of the long oop GW Pygmy figures. Once I get them all cleaned up and painted, they will be my Conscript squads. Think of the endless amusement that can be had with those on the table
Oshunai: I actually just finished assembly on my RR, so I will post some close ups of them right now. The horse comes from Wood Elf Glade Riders, and was just what I had laying around. The Praetorian RR is a resin casting (duplicated with his permission) of a sculpt that Col. Gravis did a few years back. I still need to apply some Green Stuff to the Sgt's torso and maybe add some saddle bags and blanket roles before I prime them, it will depend on how much umpth I have over the next few days (I go back to work tomorrow night, so my hobby time over the next few days will be limited).
Ok.. here are the pics:
RR Group Shot;
RR Close up;
A close up of a few of the Infantry (Color balance is not quite right yet, the tunic is a little more orange);
Hydra #1 (After 1rst Filter, still at least 1 more filter to go before serious weathering and mud gets added);
Hydra #2 (Same condition as #1 above);

Holme: I hear you; it is just not feasible to contemplate getting a new all pewter army these days. I have been collecting the Praetorians for years, one good deal at a time (Starting with 2 limited edition boxed sets). To replace them would take more money and effort than I can even think of. I was shocked when I scanned Ebay a few days ago and saw some of the prices.
Updates: All of the tanks are ready for Gloss Sealing, decals, and weathering. I figure about another 12 hours and all of the tanks will be done.

Update Time: Past few days have been at work, so I have not been able to post update pictures. I have the day off and the tanks are done except for a final sealing coat of varnish. As they get sealed (and the stuff gets dry) I will be posting my tanks here. I might hold off on the Salamander Command, since I do not feel it is detailed enough yet. In between sessions spraying I will be Brown-Stuffing my Rough Riders since they look too plain the way they are.\
I did not end up putting the cammo netting on, once I had it on I REALLY did not like the look as much as I did seeing on other peoples tanks.
The images look a little yellow because of the lighting in my room, I will see if I can get the true-Light set up for the next set of pictures.

Very cool work, you will have an awesome table presence. I have a couple of nitpicky issues with the tanks, being a treadhead myself, but they're all detail oriented stuff. The biggest gripe I have is that, while the idea of the sandbags is very authentic and a really good idea (and a level of detail you don't usually see on gaming models), the bags themselves look both way too big and not in the best locations on the models. Figure, especially in the grim dark future, all of those sandbags have to be schlepped around by some poor sap, so they can't be much bigger than a pillow or he'd never be able to lift it. Also, while I understand what you're going for, the bags on the tread/skirt gap on the Chimera don't make much sense... they'd be dislodged and caught up in the tracks in no time. Other than that they are pretty good, especially the bags acting as splash guards in front of those bullet-trap turrets.

Tod: Your right, the infantry are tooooo clean. I was looking at them standing next to the tanks on my painting table and was not digging it. Also, the grass green base ring is going, too..bright green.. for the tanks.
Prom: Nothing wrong with being nitpicky, I want the C+C to help the army look better. This is one of the armies I play on a regular basis, and I want them to look slick. Excellent point about the scale of the sandbags. They came from a Tamiya 1\32 scale kit. While they look great on my Medusa fixed artillery (DKoK army) , they are too big for regular IG tanks. The placement is pretty much where ever there was a spot big enough to hold them. The sandbags between the side skirts and the tread I pulled from a Photo of a German Tiger tank that had the side skirts. Will have to work on it a bit after the toury, or maybe just leave it as a lesson learned since I have so many more to go (8 Chimeras, 3 LR's, 3 Bassys and change).
Ph34r: Modeling on the RR's is still in progress. Since the picture there, I have added saddlebags and a blanket roll. The GW saddle blanket never did anything for me. I am pretty sure that no one can confuse the IG RR for anything BUT RR, so even if I leave the lances off (considering that anyway), it should be pretty safe.

Sorry for the delay in updates, between working and getting called out of town a couple of times I had no time for anything.
The pre-WWW2 toury was yesterday, and I did not meet my goal of having the army fully painted (had 3 heavy weapons bases, 1 astropath, 6 ratlings, and 6 Rough Riders that were not finished). This would be a short hop to being complete, except that my army did not perform the way I wanted it too. It seems like I did not have enough UMPTH to take down targets at will (bad dice rolling non-withstanding). I have a little less than 3 weeks to decide on a new army composition and get it painted. Should have some more pictures as soon as I decide on the new composition and start getting it organized.

Ok, been a busy few days. I think I am still loopy from the Glue and Primer.
I went through and tore apart my IG list and pulled out everything I did not like, or that under preformed, or that just seemed wonky. I then added in a whole mess of AOE and doubled up on the items that DID work. The past 2 days have been a flurry of glue, greenstuff, resin dust, and cursing as my fingers stuck together. This afternoon, I started with a dubious quality Grey primer and my air brush. The white in person is not as overpowering as the pictures, this is just a quick snap to let everyone know I am still plugging away.
These snaps were taken outside, so they are a little washed out. There really IS grey shadowing there..

Base colors down on the 2 new Valks, just waiting for everything to get nice and dry before I start in with the dirt washes (homemade brown ink wash).
The Valk in the back is darker because it has already been through 2 or 3 steps of weathering beyond what these 2 have.
Again, just some quick snaps taken outside. Will get some better pics when finished.
