I've recently started playing Halo 3 again and have reconsidered the paint job/theme for my SM army. I'm going to pattern them after Master Chief... They'll be 'counts as' Salamanders... so still green

This blog will be for one of the terminators... I'll give a group shot when they're all done. I might consider using some Pig Iron Productions stuff for visored heads that look similar to the Spartan's.

Bits snipped off sprue and mold lines cleaned... mostly


Applied some Scotch brand adhesive putty for masking purposes... kind of wish I went with something a little more firm... this stuff feels too soft... then again, this is my first time using some of the stuff with my model building.

I lost the head...

My cat bats things off of my desk to wake me up sometimes and she managed to get to my Termie bits. In anticipation of her batting things off the general work area of the desk I put paint bottles (big enough to find) out for her to knock off and I'll put things like bits/models I'm working on in a little cubby-hole type area thinking she won't get to it... she got to it this time.

This isn't too much of a problem though since I was thinking of using Pig Iron heads anyway and now I have an excuse... *ignores bald screaming head in box*

hrmm so the 117 idea sounds kool, i thought you could do something like that with IG storm troops or like that but a space marine army suits the whole super soldier role. you going to mark them unsc? or just space marine chapter with similar armour

I have a box of Cadians that I might give the Spartan treatment. I'm mostly going with Space Marines for now because that's the next army I have in production. I was thinking of marking them as UNSC... other than that and maybe the head swap, the armor is still going to look like the GW Space Marine.

Sprayed pieces necrotic flesh; it was kind of a fiasco; I've got finger/glove prints on some of the pieces; I think I sprayed too close as well.

If you're after a spartan-style helmet, you might want to look into Halo Actionclix. They don't make 'em anymore, but you should be able to pick some up online. They're a bit tall, but they should be fine in terms of parts.

Tough break on losing the head. Cats are such playful creatures unless they eat too much and laze all day

So I put together the pieces. (still no head)

Picked out some details; Joints, gloves, weapon handle with Chaos Black; heraldry, skulls, parchment with Bastion Grey; Lights, wire/hose with blood red; wire/hose with Thornwood Green.

I've abandoned current efforts and will try again this coming year. I need to get a different green. I tried to do an Army Painter primer and used some green wash/ink to bring out some details. I don't like how it turned out. I may go with a black primer... or even grey. And then use a darker green; it won't be the wash/ink again.

January I plan to paint a test Terminator or two. Then by March I hope to come up with what colors i'm definitely going to use.

Look at what I found in my stash of forgotten models... This guy looks better than I remember.

Yay! Spare head!
