Hello again, after trying to get the right color combinations I need a little help in painting my FW Krieg squad. Most of my experience is with larger miniatures and the IG stuff is a little tricky for me to paint at the moment.

I was thinking of using tin bitz for the masks, but it seems too dark. I also can't perfect the grey/black color, using shadow grey just seems to make things have a bluish look to them.

I'm wanting to know if anyone has any suggestions in getting a Krieg Guardsman to look something like the following, whether it be a full painting method or just some useful tips!

Just the mask part?

Dark flesh

high light is bleached bone + dark flesh ,
with pure bleach bone as lightest .

diluted black wash to make it abit gritty and dark.

Oops missed the gray part you wanted ( getting sleepy )

Base coat Orkhide shade , light dry brush with camo green

the light grey parts would be thin layers of astronomicon gray. ( which is ontop of the ork shide shade and camo green from above )

well, I'm also interested in the gray cloak and the shading it requires

For the grenadiers I had I used shadow gray as a base coat, and then I mixed up my own wash out of chaos black, water and matte medium.. but that was before the GW washes were out. So you could do shadow gray on the cloaks, then coat them with badab black. let that dry completely then give them a 2nd coat but focus on just inside the creases and stuff like that. Then when that's all dry, very lightly drybrush space wolf gray over the whole coat to pick out the highlights.
