I just thought I'd share some of my work. I never really liked the metal kommandos so I created my own. I started a sample paint scheme on the pants of "Sneaky Snake". I thought he was looking pretty neat 'till I snapped some pics. Then all the suck shows up. I was trying to go for a blue tiger stripped camo. Here is the result of my experiment.

I dunno, what do you guys think? should I do the rest of the squad to match?

As for the rest of the kommandos I used the long skinny choppas to give them some cohesion with other wargear mixed in. My favorites have to be the combat shotgun(slugga) and the rokkit launcha boy. One of my buddies at work named him "Pistol-grip Pete".

This thread is useless with out pics so here they are.

I like them, you should definitely finish the squad. And the guy's painted pretty good, you just need to hit the stikkbombs and the shirt a bit more, or at least highlight it a bit. Can't wait to see the rest of them finished!

I think the blue looks quite good acctually, remember, it's painted on by an ork so it can look a bit scruffy!

At my FLGS one of the staff made some ork kommando's by sticking ork legs to a barrel, crates and an ork peeping out of a sewer pipe, also one holding up a wooden sign with a space marine painted on as 'camoflauge'.

They are looking good though and I really like the guy with the rocket pistol!

Those sound comical. I have the next couple of days off so I am going to get them painted up and see how they look all together.

Yea they where a bit comical but cheap ^_^ Paint them all up like that and you will have yourself a sneaky kommando squad worthy of Mork.

Based on what I have seen these guys look pretty good, and in fact, I think your camo pattern while a bit different, actually looks pretty good, keep going for it!

I am not an expert modeler or painter by any means, but IMHO what might enhance their Kommando feel is maybe to carefully add some skin camo paint on their arms to give them IMHO an even sneakier look, but if your happy with your current layout then by all means keep them as you like em .

I'm working on a unit of Kommandos just like these!
I actually like the metal models just fine, I'm just going for an all-plastic Ork army.

Here's a little update. They aren't finished yet, need to pick out some more of the details such as teeth and nails. Just wanted to share the work. Apparently I am very slow at painting but it was an enjoyable day. I have my work bench cleared off but I still don't have anything to sit on that is the right height. I ended up setting a kitchen chair on top of some plastic litter buckets... so ghetto. I also need more lights. I'm thinking a couple of the 18" florescent on the vertical to flank each side and maybe one of the old lady knitting lights (the nice ones) later on.

Anywho, here are the pics for the days work.
