Its not gak! though white can be shaded in so many colors, not sure if glue suits marines .

use grey for white scars, blue looks like space wolves to me

As paintbrushturkey has mentioned, grey would be a good color, you could basecoat grey wash with black so it runs into the details, apply another thin coat of grey and then work up to pure white highlights, i've never done an all white marine before so this is purely guess work

Dont do white scars. Leave the blue and do something exactly like white scars except substitute the red they use in white scars for a dark blue

Painting white, as any light color is a real challenge. It appears to me, that you have actually shaded the blue in directly with a zero size brush?

If so, incredible, that is precise, difficult and disciplined work.

I think the blue looks accomplished, it would be ok. Red as a contrast color on that will be quite striking. I think they will be a bit different looking than the traditional white scars. I think thats perfectly fine, and if you like it, then it's a win.

Do you like it? Or would you like a more traditional paint job?

Since light colors are hard to do, assuming you haven't already decided to use this (fine looking) technique, I'll offer you how I did my white scars.

Spray white, paint in the metal and create a grey clear glaze. Mine were very simple and somewhat faster I suspect.

All you have to do is get some Liquitex acrylic matte medium (water base non toxic of course FYI) mix some black or grey into it and paint it over strait white and silver, it looks great.

Here is an image of an example (obviously all the red and other details came afterward with normal techniques.)

* If you'd like more precise info, or addnl pictures, just say so, be happy to oblige, good luck, that's a good start there!

When I started my 'Scars, I tried using grey as an undertone. Personally, I found that it made them look 'dirty'. I ended up using Space Wolf grey as a basecoat, and then working it up to a pure white highlight. By using that color, it acyually tricks the eye into seeing it as 'whiter'. Something else to remember, the smaller something is, the brighter you need to make it. Small things naturally look darker. I think you're on the right track. Play around with it and don't be afraid to make it your own!

while these dont look exactly like the typical white scars pics in the codex, or augustus' nice example, i really dig the effect the blue lining gives. highlighting up to a brighter white on the armor itself will make it look more white than it does now (or maybe just dark pics? hard to tell, but they are a bit greyish), but in my opinion the blue lining you have going on looks like some awesome Tron flavored win.

(the butt shot, center of top row of pics is my fav).

what do you mean by zero brush? im taking a guess its the size of the brush? i used the fine detail citaldel brush

im going to post update pics in the next day or 2 , i actually got rid the of the lining and xferred the SM to spacewolf.

i find it really hard to get a nice smooth consistant prime / first coat , i dont want to use a spray can as i think to much paint will be on the model and dont want thos panel lines filling up! but i might try it on my next model

Yes, size zero, most brush ranges use a numbered scale, starting at 000 or 00, and sometimes just 0 (zero). Its essentially a very small brush, as you surmised.

Also, I recomend reconsidering on the spray base, sprays are really great, I spray primered my example with Krylon flat white.

Good luck looking forward to the images!

It's very well painted but the way it's done, with the gray being the dominant colour of the panels with white highlights makes it look a bit too Space Wolves to me, I think your dark blue recesses were more on the money for a unique looking White Scars army.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Yeah i last minute changed my mind i painted over the white with space wolf grey - so had to convert him to space wolf , its my first time painting warhammer ( well i did paint a few in primary school ) and i didnt really plan a actual colour scheme and just winged it while i was going , after i finish my other few and make a little 4 man crew , my next will be white scare and this time its going to be planned
