So the Tau were under attack and the Space Marine came to their aid for their own selfish reasons.
Darren, Adam, and Sousou attacked with the Dark Eldar and wonderfully fleet Slannesh Daemons.


Sol and I defended the three central bastions with the Tau and a very shooty space marine reinforcement group.


After we prepared our fortress we faced a firestorm that destroyed one bastion and a few infantry. They placed every template in the middle of our circle and whatever happened with the scatter didn't really matter at all.


Then everything from the attacking group came onto the table at once, except one Ravager.
At the sight of this overwhelming mass Sol and I both began to seriously worry about our chances. We had no counter assault forces what so ever.


Things got off to a rough start for the Dark Eldar as the archon and the wych cult leader both overdosed on their combat drugs. That's a lesson for the kids out there. Drugs are bad, even in futuristic interstellar combat.


The kroot speedbumps we had were totally overrun by the Dark Eldar and Slaneesh, but the tight formation prevented them from reaching any other units.


One group of Kroot held off daemons who were rolling like this.


The assault of the attackers was so overwhelming that they were all left out in the open to be shot up and the tables turned pretty quickly.
Tau Flamer Suits went nuts on the Dark Eldar and the Broadsides took out the greater daemon.
This would lead to the Incubi losing a leadership test by one point, which they would have made with the Archon, and falling back.


The Autocannon dreads opened up on the Dark Eldar and then assaulted the reaver bikes and sorcerer, who could only glance. Keeping the bikes locked in CC was a lifesaver, any other unit they would've ripped apart. The Archon alone had 5 attacks


Most Dark Eldar infantry was destroyed as was much of Slaanesh.
As Darren pointed out the massed assault back fired because there was no second wave after the kroot were gone. So all the good reserve rolls were really not so good.
Also, the attackers strategy of growing cacophony or whatever it is called didn't work well, we made all our leadership roles despite the penalties.


Results: Tau and Marines successfully defended the bastions despite the incredibly demoralizing initial assault, but Mandrakes snuck in and contested one objective.


My first planet strike game and very much an emotional roller coaster. Yikes!

Good to see someone playing Dark Eldar - especially with Mandrakes.

Very nice report, it had me quite entertained.

Its pretty funny watching that video you realize that from a top-down perspective you guys barely touched most of the table. All that craziness occurred right in the center of the table.

I have no idea what the kill count was on the suits. But the dark eldar were packed in under the template

I have seen the Beast of War Console, is that what Pat is talking about? I have a secret source for my Space Hulk sound effects...hmmmmm, very mysterious....
