A local gaming club is having a HQ arena fight with a 160 point limit, no retinue but "token" models like ammo grots are permitted.

I'm bringing an Eldar Autarch w/ jetbike, mandiblasters, laser lance, and reaper launcher @155 points.

What would you bring?

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Fiery the angels fell; deep thunder rolled around their shores; burning with the fires of Orc.

Yea he's still immune lol between him the avatar and calgar, it would be an epic melee throw down lol

LoS wouldn't be as affective in one on one.. though wings and warptime are a mean combo..

im not sure here, mephiston wouldnt do too badly.
+ he can outmove most characters on foot

S5 force weapon, FNP, T5, 2+ save.

+D3 attacks, move like jump pack troops, makes enemy lose 1 attack (all psychic attacks, but he can use all 3 in a turn + use his force weapon)

lol the 2+ save would be your savior cause dudes like abaddon can get like 10 attacks str8 reroll to wound etc mephistn sounds mean though.. As far as csm I see kinda a cool fight between him and Ahriman or Kharn(though hes immune to psyker powers) I personally haven't played against the speacialized versions of the marines etc like the angels, templars etc

Hmmm... I'm going to have to go with the flying Chaos Lord of Slaanesh as well. The Slaaneshi daemon weapon is tailor-made to kill independent critters, so I can picture it really raping in this scenario.

Besides, someone needs to represent the Emperor's Children at these events.

Slaneesh may seem fun now, but when you find yourself in bed with a he-goat and several implements of pain, you'll know you've gone too far. -Emperor's Faithful

mmm May have to steal that idea sounds like alot of fun.

On topic though: A necron lord with destroyer body, 4+ inv (the name slips my mind) and possibly a warscythe would hold its own, T6 is hard to get past.
Leilith Would do pretty nicely if she could make it into CC. WS 7, I8 Wounding on 4's regardless, 2+ inv and halving the WS of an opponent that is under S6.

I play: - 2000pt
Deathwing - 12-1500 pts and counting

No limitations to wargear other than no retinues and no vehicles. I'm banking on the fact that jetbikes don't count as vehicles since they're not in the Vehicle section of the rulebook - just an "upgrade" to the unit type. The only other limitation was no named characters. Whether that applies to something like the Avatar I dunno, but I figured that the Avatar would be a legal choice as well. Sorry, but no Abbadons or Calgars...

@JD21290: 160 is a pretty even range for Eldar, so I'm not complaining. If characters were allowed and the limit was raised I'd probably pick one of the Phoenix Lords: Eternal Warrior and excellent wargear and exarch powers.

@Irdiumstern: I think it's going to be a 4x6, but I haven't talked with the "TO" to find out. It's my first meeting with the club!

I thought about the Necron Lord as well, but coming in at 100 points base and having to buy wargear on top of that to make them effective is rough. I might want to use a rez orb if I did though, to allow WBB rolls on power weapons.

Have to go with high initiative and something with eternal warrior. If a Slaanesh marked demon prince with wings and warptime comes in cheap enough that would be a great choice.

The slaanesh demon weapon, with it's instant character kills and high initiative would be a good choice, but I think t4 that can be instant killed by a power fist or str8 shooting weapon isn't so good.

Souped up Tau commander obviously. You can sit and play keep away and no one will ever catch you. (outside of farseer on bike)

Just sit and move 6 shoot, move 6 more. Might take a while but you will kill everyone.

Otherwise DH lord would be hilarious. Old force weapon rules activate!
In fact DH lord in terminator armour would be by far your best choice. You can customize him with psychic hoods and such to make him a force at range and CC.

In fact, I cannot think of anything that would beat an DH terminator lord. Psycannon walks over farseers on bikes. And you can't really outrange it very well.

I bet a shadowfield Archon/Drachon would do well.

A Company Command Squad with 4 plasma guns might do well too.

Hive Tyrants work, especially with Implant Attack.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

You better have Eternal Warrior on your end there, and my range is going to beat pretty much (every?) other HQ in the game.

@Statu: I nixed the Jetseer since they only get 1 attack and stones are useless without two powers. Mind war is of limited effectiveness since most HQ's have Ld10 matching the seer's...

Cool I'll start in reserves too
Oh and the main problem with a DH Lord is the toughness 3 . . . str 6 instakilling is a bit of a bother

Not feeling like risking everything in a close combat duel? Go with a flyrant and 2x TL devourers, toxin sacs, and bioplasma (159 points). 12 S5 shots at 18 (BS3), reroll to hit and wound. If they do get into to close combat they better have powerfists because you are toughness SIX. Not that they're going to, considering you can kite at 18" and rain agonizing death on anything save Avatars.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Daemon hunters termies are T4. Also... I don't think they get to assault the turn they deepstike. Using a psycannon? I don't think you can actually kill a four wound model in one turn so... GG.

That's the big problem with MOTF, he's not four wounds. Though he is modified toughness five.

Tyrant or Daemon Prince. Maaaaybe a Great Unclean One. Honestly though, a Lash Prince would own almost anything short of some Grey Knight cheese. At 160 they don't have much cheese to bring though.

I took it as a Inquisitor Lord in Terminator Armour . . . well Str 10 still instakills, and I am faster and will outrun him

The tyrant would come down to getting lucky enough to kill it before it owns the MotF

Incidentally Ork Warboss with Bike, Big Choppa/Power Klaw, 'eavy Armour, Cybork Body, Attack Squig, and Kombi Shoota/Skorcha
140 pts/160 pts, 12'' move, T 5(6), and plenty of attacks
