And how do you know what a stormbird looks like? Stormbirds are upsized, smoother thunderhawks. Not fan propelled gunships.

Well, lets get pugilistic about it now 
I was basing the similarities off of this page, which I believe borrows artwork from visions of the Heresy;
Now, perhaps that artwork is not correct....regardless does anyone know what the source of the original model is? Thanks!

Nice find on the model.
Take a look in the bottom left corner of the Stormbird drawing. That Beakie Marine places this illustration in Rogue Trader or Space Marine land.

Oh, neat. If that art is indeed supposed to depict a stormbird then it looks like that GI joe model would be a good fit. That's not how I pictured a stormbird looking based on the Horus Heresy book series.
