So hello everyone,

First of all a small intro. So after me and my gaming buddy were bored playing with our army's. He with his Salamanders an I with my Saim-hann warhost. We decided to begin a new army. We hoped that this blog would help us finishing our armys.

I chose for Sisters of Battle. I love their fluff and their miniatures. For my army composition I chose to go for a mechanized army. I think it's the most fun to play with and the most competitive.

My buddy will post under the name of "Niels" on this forum. He chose to go for a Tau army. I'll let him explain why he chose to play them. But I think those hot looking suits have something to do with it.

What may you expect in this blog?

Pics of our progress of course and now and then a battle report. But progress will be slow because of school and other hobby's.
We hope that you guys will help us developing a nice army. Sharing some tactics with us

Now here are some pics of my sisters. I went for the order of our martred lady. I've always had something with black colour shemes. As far for my painting progress goes, I have already painted 6 seraphim and 20 sisters. Next on the list to paint is my inquisitor and his retinue and finishing some rhino's.

First of all. My HQ. She is equipped with a plasma pistol, mantle, jump pack and blessed weapon.



And secondly one of my troop squads. Ill have four of them with different weapon load outs in 1500. This one will actually have two meltas instead of the flamer...

I also like the Order of the Martyred Lady best. I feel the HQ cannoness would benefit from a layer of wash and a further level of highlighting/light drybrushing.

Oh and that Tau pattern on the tanks looks great in that photo.

Looks like the good start of a Sisters army. I'd like to see an army profile done up of it in the future.

One thing I can appreciate from the squad pics I have seen here is that the squadies are painted to a pretty uniform standard. This is great because you can always go back later for painting upgrades, but you currently have a force that looks cohesive on the table top. Wish I coulda managed that!

I like what you've done on the armour, it looks good. My only problem is the skin, what to do is undercoat tallarn flesh, wash with orgryn flesh and then a highlight of elf flesh, it looks really natural but is quick and easy for a large number of models! Keep up the good work.

School does cramp down on your time, I have exams this year, so my time is shortened even more by revivion, sucks, don't it!!!

thanks mate! I do my skin with an undercoat of dwarf flesh and then a highlight with elf flesh. But it doesn't turn out so good so I might try your method.
School can take a lot of your spare time... Sadly enough.

Update! Things are going faster then planned...

So, friday after school we went to our local gaming club to have a game. Niels with 750 points tau and I with 750 points sisters against 1500 points marines. It was a very enjoyable game. With the suits killing tons of marines. (I was very impressed by them) I lost both my rhinos in the second turn. But it wasn't a big issue. Around the mid game, my seraphim assaulted termies and wiped them out! At the end we had 3 objectives and our opponent had only a whirlwind left.
All in all we had luck on our side and keep rolling above average while our opponent had bad luck.

I think the rhinos would benefit from a layer of wash and something to give the paint an even feel, the red feels uneven and the undercoat is showing through.

Update:

So, after the comment of MeanGreenStompa. I had another go at my rhino's and went over it with another layer of grey. Hope it's a bit better.
Another thing that I finished was my exorcist. I was a pain to paint, a pain to glue so I didn't enjoyed that...
Niels has almost finished his uber HQ and they look awesome! So stay tuned for that

Why does nobody comment?

I like how you've used some of the accessories, they look cool. In terms of painting, the coverage of the paint looks a little streaky and thin. I'm guessing you went over a black undercoat which is fine, but you need to progressively build up layers of the red to get it to look good. Water it down a little as well (I find 2 parts paint to 1 part water is a good compromise between the paint actually sticking to the model and not being too thick). It might also be worth you looking at how other people have highlighted their vehicles. Doing some fine edge highlights on Rhinos makes them look a lot more professional and polished - its something you should definitely do. For black, I'd say do a very thin highlight of shadow grey, and for the red, mix a little bit of orange into the blood red.

So, Friday I’ve been to the cinema with some friends. We watched the movie “inglorious Bastards”. I enjoyed the movie but it wasn’t so spectacular. But I really liked the performance of the SS agent. Anyone else seen the film?

But enough of topic (I think nobody is really interested in what I’ve done on Friday evening but yeah^^). I had some progress on my rhino but he isn’t still what he has to be...

That Rhino is looking so much better with the edge highlights - good job. There's really no easy way to get good at things like edge highlighting other than practice: it requires a steady hand rather than a well executed technique.

Battle Report

So, I went with my sister to the game night and took some pics. We played a free for all with Kill points.
Here is the battlefield...


There were 3 players. My sisters, tau and vulcan marines (Niels his first army)
The first turns consited of the marines moving forward. The land raider was heading for the tau and the rest of the marines took some shots. While the tau tried everything to stop the landraider but to no avail.



Around turn 3. Vulcan marines had 4 KP, I maybe one and the tau player had none. He really had bad luck with his dice...
So, it wasn't looking good. My exorcist couldn't destroy a tank he immobilised and took a weapon of the whirlwind and immobilised the razorback...

Around turn 4 something really strange happende my seraphim and cannones were assaulted by 5 marines who sat in the razorback. I tried to use some faith. The passion= failed, okay no problem spirit of martyr will save my cannoness form instant death= failed.
Result death cannoness and lost combat to 5 marines


Oh yeah I also immobilised my rhino in terrain that turn...


At the end the outcome was 5 KP for the vulcan marines, 4 for the sisters and 2 for the tau.

Other news is that we have a new blogger. He will soon post some of his IG. He wants to do a whole elysians or something army.

For myself, I'm going to paint some eldar for a change.

The multiple grey coats on the Rhino achieve your goals nicely. The sisters look good in terms of detail, but all could benefit from some more washes and highlights.

A small amount of watered down red wash can be applied to sister's cheeks to get a kind of blush effect.


Automatically Appended Next Post:

Red ink was used on his lips and cheeks, green on the eyes. For a blush effect, don't use the green, and simply apply a 2:1 water:ink ratio to the cheeks.

here are my first tau fire warriors

Try not to use flash when you take pictures. It dulls the colors of the paintjob something fierce. Use a lightbox (white cardboard box) and strong white light. The rhinos look a lot better with just a little highlight.
To the Tau player : I like the paintschem but the photo is too blurry to make anything out. Sorry.
