Been Around the Block

I finally got around to making a squad of my LED lighted Jin-Roh-esque stormtroopers. I found it went much more quickly to do all the electrical connections with silver oxide epoxy rather than trying to solder it with an iron. The latter is ridiculously hard with 30-gauge wire and a miniscule surface mount LED light.

Thanks for all the comments! I will work on a tutorial, but it will probably take a while. There are many steps to making these things. The wiring was basically done like in this article
http://z11.invisionfree.com/Work_In_Progress/index.php?showtopic=2280
but using silver epoxy
http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/8331.html
instead of solder. Like I said, way easier.

Heck, even just a tutorial on how you converted the models without even including the LEDs would be great. Those are some nice looking STs.

They're awesome... although i has query about the weaponry...
Are they weilding stubbers, or are you using those to represent hellguns?
Oh yeah, i did notice that one of the guys is packing an M249 SAW....

awesome job! I remember after seeing Jin-roh I was sorely tempted to start playing guard and center it on converted stormtroopers.
I can't quite place what models you used though... are those DKoK heads on stormtrooper bodies?

Bodies, arms and legs: Cadian Infantry
Straight standing legs: Tank crew
Armor plates: Greenstuff, modeled on the plates of a Kasarkin sergeant.
Heads: Pig Iron Kolony Militia
Gas mask hoses: Steel guitar wire
Backpacks: Vox-casters with some of the antennae removed.
Guns - MG-42s and yes, Lemon, there's a SAW in there, all from The Assault Group. I'm counting them as hellguns, or if I run them as Veterans, lasguns.
Ammo belts- Greenstuff bearing a very strong resemblance to Heavy Bolter Team ammo belts.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yeah, the arms of the guys leveling their weapons are grenade launcher arms, with the handle made out of a railing from a 3rd edition rhino. The guy second from left is supposed to look like the poster, though I don't think I got the angle of the head quite right.

Of course, as an American, that means I must say that soccer sucks, and football (real football... you know, the one where you do everything with your hands) is 10,000 times as good. I mean, football players could probably beat up soccer players, even, because they actually know sports. I had dreams of lighting up my Valkyries with running lights and the like until I realised that it wouldn't be easy...then I saw your models and I died a little on the inside...
Thanks for destroying any aspirations I had of using LED's in my models!
Seriously though, those are totally awesome. If I could do that, I would just make models, wire them up and then sell them to people like me! Well done!
