basicaly i started this to chart my progress as i prepare for a tournement in july 2010(called feilds of blood)
my army is space marines(yes the thunderlords the same ones that have 2 threads already)
but i have just entered my third year at second level school (thats grammer to the english and high school to the coloniels)
this is the year i do my junior certificate so its study and little else.
i want to chart my way to the tournement in belfast with the rest of the dakkites with me.
so let the journey commence....

a history of the later foundings vol 2
the thunderlords were founded in the later years of mk32.
they were registered as chapter no 569 and established a home world on
grey rock 7 in the galactic north east.
they developed their tactics to use advanced armoured rhino spearheads assisted by a predator.
they used predators instead of land raiders so they could move faster.
under the teaching of the grey rock people they follow a strict code of battle and honour.
by some genetic quirk they showed amazing aptitude at scouting and sniper roles but disaproving of sniper rifles as the hindered
movement they instead used heavy bolters and boltguns.

I would suggest some highlighting for the infantry. The Tanks look very solid. I like the mud weathering you've used.

Did you know that mold lines destroy wargaming souls? (aka a few mold lines you should tidy up)
other than that i am really liking how this is looking and keep it up

You're going to get a lot of people taking them for Red Scorpions with the grey/yellow look. You'll need a strong differing iconography for these guys to help them stand apart, that or you get some Red Scorpion Icons and run with it ^_-.

There is a good amount of coverage issue to approach with the yellow. I'd suggest getting the foundation yellow and using it as a base color for your current yellow.

Also, definitely kill the mold lines, they'll destroy a paint job before it's even on the model. Just getting the big large glaring ones usually does the trick. But you quickly get addicted to killing them off and will start scouring your models entirety for them!

I'd also hit the base with some paint. The straight sand doesn't usually work for this scale unfortunately, and will make the model feel more 'finished' with a coat of paint. Base color for that could be whatever you've used on the rim, hit with a quick drybrush of something lighter!

Good start, a few areas for improvement though, so keep at it!

It's good to see someone already focused on what they are bringing to next year's tournament, Although I myself cannot decide between 40K or Warhammer for next year's as there is talk about games workshop holding an official GT next year over two days six games over the course of the weekend.

In regards to your army overall looks good although can I suggest highlighting your tanks , by dry brushing which I feel would bring out the detail.

Sorry to sound harsh but i don't really see much at all on the LotD squad, just looks like a black undercoat. Maybe look up on some info about the LotD and see what they usually look like, i remember flames and skulls were important, another person used a ghost style colour scheme. good luck in study
