Greetings Dakkaites (sp), Long time lurker, posted a few times but mainly using this wonderful place for inspiration, i'd finally finished my Dark Angels army after collecting them for 12 years, mind you the painting wasn't the best when i was in my younger days, but they advanced a large margin since, after the last few of my models were finished, i'd hit a road block, i didn't really "need" anything else for my army, i'd collected everything under the sun for it previously.
I was browsing through the FLGS, looking for something to sait my model building passion, when my Wife (the women who, at first couldn't stand the hobby, is now in the process of reading the Sisters fluff) suggested i try collecting a new army.
I immediately checked her temp, she was fine.

So i browsed with the wives consent, she's knows me so well, she was looking through the armies and see what i could have the most fun building, it ended up being between C:SM Nurgle or Orks, and so we left it up to chance, flipped a coin and the Ruinious powers had defeated Gork and Mork.

From then on i've been corrupted by the ruinious powers.

Since then i've been converting and building models like mad, and painting a few at a time.

This Blog will be a WIP on my entire Nurgle C:SM army, and possibly a Caemon army as well as i had gotten some Daemons aswell during my purchases because i'd liked the models so much.

I'll be uploading pics of my finished models as i get them finished, some will be painted by me others will be contracted to a friend who does very fine work, as after spending up to a month on a conversion, i'd rather not destroy it with a bad paint job due to medical disabilities.

One thing before you start, maybe magnatize all the special weapons like Plasmaguns and Combi-Weapons and DEFINETIALLY the dreds weapons, just for the future if those combinations don't work well. That is my only regret ATM with my armies.

the dreadnaught arms will be left unglued, and the special weapons well i've got left overs for conversions for the melta gun plague marines should i need them. infact the one of the dreadnaughts is completed minus basing atm and so is the greater daemon, the daemon princes are both in WIP stages, rebuilding after being stripped. the plague marines 30 of which are built atm are almost ready for primer, i'm working on the champion conversions for the squads as we speak. the vindicators are done atm aswell, the obliterators 3 of which are done just in need of basing. the terminators are in need of prime then paint aswell. also finished 3 of the rhinos aswell.

I've run many games with them sofar unpainted/ proxied its gone very well for me.

Now if i could only get a camera that works.... Sigh...

Waiting with intrest

I was approached by a friend asking if i was interested in a conversion/diorama project, i've since been side tracked by it, i should be able to resume work on the Ruinious powers soon, i've also recently come into a few daemon princes, i'm debating on making them one of each god. have not decided yet.

i've also come into a large number of noise marines with all special order pads and sonic weaponry, its also given me the idea of combining the armies and going conversion happy on everything. we'll see how that goes, the first pics should be going up soon.

Also one thing you probly can'tt see is the texturing done to the tanks and dreadnaught to create flaking rust on the models, if you handle any of the tanks/walkers etc, they feel gritty and feel like they will crumble apart.
C&C welcome please view the gallery aswell and give opinions.

Sweet dude, how did you get the rust effect, its awesome

the rust effect is a five layer process.

1. base coat bestial brown
2. light dry brush scab red
3 dry brush fiery orange (or mecharius solar orange)
4. apply devlin mud wash, light/med/heavy coat depending on how dark you want some spots to look.
5. 40/20/20/20 mix of Bestial brown, scab red, fiery orange, baking soda, mix until thick and gritty then apply to all the metal with an old paint brush or stippling brush

step 5 gives it the texture and gritty look as well as the flaking effect on all of the metal. also as a final highlight it brings the metal together very well.

Just a small update, the pics will be coming later.
I began work on conversions for daemon princes, 4 of them. one devoted to each god, one is completed, the second is in its late stages, the third is 25% completed awaiting bitz in trade this weekend, the fourth is more dynamic basing/ repositioning has to be done to the base model. fine detailing needs to be completed yet, though i must say they are coming along nicely.

I'm also going to be building them for play and for a Diorama, i hope to enter into GD either 2010 or 2011 depnding on its scheduled day due to having my wedding at the end of june 2010. I highly doubt the wife or soon to be would much like me heading to gamesday instead of the alter.

Nurgle Daemon Prince is completed

Slannesh Daemon Prince is completed

Tzeetch Daemon Prince 50% completed

Khorne Daemon Prince positioning completed, though there is a small size issue i may have to correct.

Not a fan of the DP of slaanesh and are you sure you sure you got the fingers right on the Nurgle prince.

the fingers are supposed to be malformed on the DP of Nurgle.
As for the DP of Slannesh i took the inspiration to do the model from an old pic. and from the Fluff of the Leare(SP) from the world where Fulgrim found the sword that turns him to Slanessh, its based off of what the Laere(SP) style Slannesh Daemon Prince would look like. if the Marine had been turned into one from the corruption of the sword Fulgrim carries.
Also if your wondering why i did not represent the Lash in the conversion is because honestly, i feel dirty as hell using even One in a list let alone the 2 that the Tourney scene seems to require for a power list.
As for the wings i could of used a different pair but they still didn't look right so i went with the feather winged serpent look.

thanks, the DP of Tzeetch is coming along nicely, i've a few more hours worth of work on him and he should be completed, i'll post pics of him once i'm satisfied with it.

As for the nurgle prince i was debating on impaling some grey knights or loyalist marines on his claws and adding infected wounds to them and the blood and gore dripping. but i can't quite decide what i should do to display it correctly.
The DP of Slannesh will have carved up Grey knight terminators(from a bitz bag deal i got, no i didn't chop up $25+ dollar models) all around him with blood gore dripping from the rune swords, aswell as torso of a marine crushed beneath the coils of the snake section.

The DP of Tzeetch is going to be holding a Warp Shard (purple quartz stone) in one hand a staff of tzeetch in the other, with green stuff flames around his feet, painted deep red to ice blue tips, and have them consuming some marines.

should have pics up by tommrow of the Tzeetch DP minus the shard, which will be added after painting.

havent quite decided to do for the paint scheme for him yet though. the DP of Slannesh aswell either.

as for khorne, i'm really having trouble figuring out how to fix his model size issue in relation to the other 3 god's DP's.
may use water effects and red ink and a few piles of skulls have him standing on top of them, but it still won't fix the fact that he looks a lot smaller. Any ideas?
