This is my second attempt at a much less rules contentious Loganwing™ army , pure drop.
(Anyway, whilst they mightve been able to make use of the Wolf-scout rules they would-not have been scoring. Its an either/or. And if they did make use of the rules, as intended then I would've had too-few troop choices. See mk.1 here)

Logan is simply too powerful, IMO, not to build a list around. I like this list as it offers a large degree of flexibility in things like;
1) Wolfguard accompanying grey-hunter troops. The GH are the cheap meat and are "force-multiplied" by the WG
2) The possibility of a relentless podding long-fangs squad with a cyclone WG
3) The possibility of podding in a fearless (first-turn) and prefered enemy enhanced (2nd turn) pack of wolfguard, up to A-D + Logan.. That squad is stubborn with a re-roll (Saga of majesty) @ LD10.. look at the loadouts and tell me that wont be scary?
4) The general force multiplication of Logans "Living Legend" rule on all of my podding close-combat orientated troops.

Those are my main strategic options. What do you all think?

Logan: very pricey for 1500, even with is wonderful background.
Greyhunters look decent, but there is a low number of special weapons.

Wolfguard look ok, but I suggest a chainfist somewhere rather than just plain fists.

Long Fangs look ok, though I’m not sure about the inclusion of the lascannons.
Sucks in Dawn of War when you don’t want them to pod in or don’t have logan with them for relentless.

You have options, but you are also constrained at the same time. The opportunity cost is pretty huge in 1500 when the pricey HQ is needed everywhere but can’t be.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

The specials are replaced by combi's and in the position I am to be in, I will be charging the turn after their use so the additional Oompf from the WG close-combat special weapons is more desirable as well as the LD9. Close-combat is where they are good at, they aren't tactical squads with specials, combi's and heavy weapons to throw around.

Relentless multi-melta's are for land-raiders (compared to chainfists) and the lascannons are there for punching through more distant transports & if I scatter badly.

Dawn of War deployement.. every pod heavy list will have the same problem. The good thing about Logan is that he can effectively drop in with either the wolfguard or the long-fangs.

He only needs to meet up with a squad of infantry after he leaves the longfangs at the beginning of the second turn. If I can pull off a big-enough charge, he Howls and his effect is where it needs to be.
I can save about 175-200pts if I remove logan and replace with a bog-standard 70-100pt HQ yet I cant find a way to achieve the same kind of death available to me with logan. Yes I could stick a wolf priest with the wolfguard or a Wolf lord with the Saga of Majesty aswell as another 150pts of stuff... but it simply doesnt give as many different answers to problems I know i'll face.

(Thanks for the feedback though - Im thinking about removing one greyhunter to make points for a few chainfist upgrades).

2) The possibility of a relentless podding long-fangs squad with a cyclone WG

can you explain this a bit? I'm not totally up to what Logan brings to table.

At the beginning of each turn, Logan and the unit he is with gets one of; Relentless, preferred enemy, tank hunter, Fearless. Made of much win.

I've skimmed the dex, but not Logan's entry.

If you want Loganwing (as opposed to simply an army with him in it), why not replace the Grey hunters wih more WolfGuard in termy armour?

Because I would over-all loose out. I do have a dedicated half termie wolfguard strike force in a pod (that can be increased in size by retaining more of their members) but I like the fact Grey hunter's are as potent as they are in close-combat @ only 15ppm and I wanted to reinforce this with more clout from the wolfguard.

But you could have 5 squads of 5 men with 4 squads as termies and the last 1/2 and 1/2, to make room for logan. If all these squads has the termie special heavy weapon you would end up with roughly 100pts to spare. Thats 25 bodies with minimal firepower. I've manged to get 43 troops with some serious heavy firepower at my disposal.
