Hey guys,
Just bought a pot of Hawk Turquoise today, cause I wanna try out something I saw in a White Dwarf for my Orks. Basically it involves having the colour washed into the recesses of the Orks skin to create a cool organic effect, which is something Im keen to try since my Blood Axes have alot of warmer tones on them.
My only question is, when making a wash/glaze with colours that arent already washes, what's a good water:paint ratio to make the glaze with? I was thinking 5:1 or something high like that, but Im not sure.
Any help would be appreciated, cheers

Mix them on a clear plastic , add enough water
so its runny , yet still can hold constant pigment.

5:1 sounds about right, what I do is have an old miniature sprayed white close to hand, so that when I am mixing a wash/glaze I can test out the consistancy on it, works a treat.

You should grab one of these puppies, it works better than water and produces a professional 'wash' finish. Just add some with paint as opposed to water.
5:1 sounds right, but the best method will be trial and error -just seing what works

You could always mix up your own batch of glaze...
In a dropper bottle mix 5:1:1 [water : future floor wax : matte medium]. The matte medium is only there to cut the gloss off the future, while the future is there to help facilitate your paint gathering in the recesses of the model.
The result is very much like the new GW washes.
