Hey everybody, was wondering when AoBR was being pulled off the shelves I'm also wondering what army will be in the new starter set, other than the SM

AoBR is relatively new, so don't expect a change for a while.

Nobody knows, I would not expect one until 6th edition comes out, and that may not be for a few years yet.

Where did this question come from? AoBR is only one year old like the 5th Edition rules. Starter sets get revised when the core rule book gets revised. Don't expect a new starter set for at least, bare minimum, 3 or 4 more years.

Now Fantasy Battle, that's a different story. That rule book and starter set are a few years old now and may be getting revised imminently.

Yeah, just like Space Hulk, only no replacement. I suggest you wait until the next is here if you haven't got AoBR yet, if there is a better army than Space Marines, buy it, if not Maelstrom Games will have a few copies left.

AoBR is doing really well, and only came out... what, last year? Nothing's changing for a good long while.

My hope for the next starter box would be Armageddon, with Steel Legion and Orks. A man can dream...

A fiend of mine has just started to get back into the hobby after a few years and we bought the AoBR set on Tuesday, there were plenty of copies on the shelves.

I also doubt they will discontinue it anytime soon, not only is it a superb starter set, and has only just been released, but it is still bought by those wanting to bulk out existing marine and ork forces.

The whole "get it now because there might not be any more" is a nasty trick employed by GW staff on a regular basis, I remember one red shirt telling me that the CoD buildings were all limited edition and when they were gone they were gone.

Haven't Space Marines appeared in all the starters, unless there were a few before their release?

Space Marines will be in the next one as well, the only difference will be the other army, and if we're lucky some terrain pieces.

Fantasy might well be due a redo next year, but they usually get through more army books in the cycle before the next release.

IMHO I think that they went for quantity over quality with the miniatures in the BFSP box, a replacement is definately due and it will be interesting to see which armies they include.

GW have always included SM in there starter sets as they are the most popular army by a country mile, they then normaly throw in whichever force they are redoing at the time, don't ever expect to see guard or for that matter inquisition forces in a starter set as they would never go for two imperial forces in the same set.

Fantasy is not that easy, for me there is no, one massively popular army so it comes down to an army of "good guys" versus an army of "bad guys" most of the good armies have been re-done recently, I can't see them doing Empire or Dwarfs again so soon, so possibly Wood Elves versus Beastmen?

Hey,
Just wanted to say in 2ed the box had marines and orcs. 3rd had marines and dark elder. 4th had marines and tyranids. Last but not least 5th had marines and orcs again. Anyone want to guess what will be in 6th edition.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also on a side note in warhammer. 4th had high elves and goblins. 5th had brets and lizardmen. 6th had orcs and empire and 7th had dwarfs and goblins

All but 1st ed had Space Marines. And there seems to be a massive decreae in models in starters. 1st ed, just rules. 2nd ed, 20 Marines, 20 Orks and 40 Gretchin. Then 3rd ed, as it says in last years July WD, 'crammed full of Marines and a new race, Dark Eldar. Probably means they tried not to show straight up there were less models. Then 4th ed just says contained Marines and Tyranids. Decrease? Oh, I dont know, maybe, yes. I reckon Tau might make a welcomed appearance against Space Marines in the next starter. Contains 5 Fire warriors, half a Devilfish, 3 Vespids and the head of a Battlesuit commander. On the Marine side, 2 Tactical marines, an Assualt marine, the tread off a rhino and a commander's sword. Let's buy it!

2nd ed was crammed full to almost bursting with stuff, 3 rulebooks maybe a little larger than the current codices, scenario booklet, army list for all armies at the time booklet, 20 marines, 20 arks, 40 gretchin, cardboard cutout for a dread then a LOAD of card scenery and even more in counters, data cards and so on. I swear carrying that starter box was what knackered my back up to this day

3rd ed I think was a tactical squad and land speeder as it was the new model for marines, and 20 dark eldar warriors. Also got a couple of booklets, the big rulebook and a set of plastic trees (enough to make 4 jungle trees) and 2 plastic ruins.

4th Battle for macragge, cant remember 100% but it included the crashed space ship and a few tyranidy scenery bits then some gaunts and gene stealers against a tac squad and a cut down rule book.

And currently AoBR the only starter I'm considering buying since 2nd ed. Huge amount of models throughout the FoC and pretty nicely done and it'll save my hardback rulebook getting tatty with the getting to play a fair amount again

I agree. Even if you go with stupidity over malice, someone needs to be beaten if they told you that. That set will be out for another 2-4 years.

Yep. I want to bring them to a GT as they're citadel product.
