Subject: Crusaders of Menoth [WM] update 11-4

Freaky Flayed One

Well MkII rules are out and I am seriously getting the itch to play some WM. My wife and friends are starting to really want to play also since Retribution just came out and the Hordes playtest comes out next month. I have decided that, since I have played WM on and off since the game first came out, I should probably get one of my armies painted. My first force was POM so I will start there.
My first unit on the block will be the Daughters of Menoth. In my first game against Retribution they managed to assassinate Garryth. I have always loved the models, but their rules in mkI were a bit lacking. I really dig them now so I am itching to get them painted.
This is how they currently look. I started painting them in the past, but never finished. They will all be the bone color like the one at the top. The loin cloths will be redone in the red color. I am hoping to have the armor and loin cloths done by tomorrow. Hopefully I can get a bit more than that done though.
questions and comments are welcome

How many did you have to CMA in order to kill him?

Nice to see more WM in the painting forums.
Red and bone make a striking scheme on the table, looking forward on seeing them done.

@malfred I had 3 or 4 in melee (cant remember exactly) they also had ignite on them from reznik. I combo'd every ones attacks so i could be sure to hit. I rolled good dam on the second cma to kill him.
@metsuri I agree. I really love the contrast between the two colors
Here is where the daughters stand now.
This next photo is a closer look at the highlighting on the red
And this last one is to show their armor a little bit closer. For some reason the tones of the armor does not seem to show up well in photos.
Not sure how much I will get done tonight. The wife wants to go out. I keep trying to explain that my toy soldiers cant paint themselves

HURRAY I finished my first menoth unit. gah 1 down several to go. Well I really like how the daughters came out. its kinda hard to see the detail on their armor in the photos, but they look pretty good in person. I kinda tried a new basing method, because I wanted to go with the feel that they live in a pretty dry area. I used the GW sand and inked it with sepia to darken it. Then i used a mix of green and dead grass 1-4 this helps to make it look like scrubland.
Next I figured I would start on my next unit. Well I chose the choir, because i pretty much always use it if I am using 2 or more jacks. In the photo you can see the scheme I started. I really think these models are really good considering that zealots are from the same time period.
Also While I was working on the choir I was thinking on working on a new warcaster. I narrowed it down to kreoss and Reznik. I never used Reznik untill the playtest and he really rocked my opponents world. Kreoss is well Kreoss I really dig his toolbox of spells, and he was the first caster I owned so... So which of these 2 should I do next??

Depends on playstyle.
Kreoss can really annoy an opponent.
Reznik makes them careful about charge lanes.

Good job on finishing the unit!
I agree about the choir, they have aged well.

Thanks for the comments guys. Well I finished painting 4 of 6 choir members. The last 2 are about half done, and then I will base the whole unit. I used one of the fine point paint pens to do the writing on the scrolls. I like how they turned out.
I also decided that I will go ahead and do kreoss. I like that he plays a bit more "castery" I am still trying to figure out the beatstick type casters. So Reznik will have to wait.
on Kreoss I got his armor done to my standard method of doing bone armor. His robes only have their base color and the shading ink in the recesses. Next will be to finish highlighting the robes. I am thinking about edging the armor plates in the same bronze color as the choir's staffs with the menoth symbols in black. I think they need the edging otherwise the whit armor will just seem to blend together too much. And his weapon will be a blend of bronze and gun metal.

The finished members of the choir look good. You could highlight the brass a bit further with silver to make it pop more, especially on the staffs.
Good idea on the edging, it will also make the armor more interesting to the eye.
