first off im not selling this army yet......

I am wondering what the approximate value that someone would pay for a painted daemonhunters army
It is about 1100 points and is somewhat competitive

it totals

30 grey knights in power armor 2 psycannons 1 incinerator
1 Grey knigh grand master (slightly converted head swap and weapon swap)
2 dreadnaughts (tl lascannon and missle launcher but all weapons are magnetized)
10 inquistoral stormtroopers (converted IG)*

remember: this army is not for sale but I am looking for someone who might be interested because if I know it's value I might end up selling

*picture missing but painted in camo scheme well done

Well from what i can tell from the pics and all are in really good shape i would say at least 300-350. I would be interested but no money for that right now.

I would not expect that much! But they do look really well painted, so it would depend on finding the right buyer, too!

maximum 20% off of retail. people penalize you if you don't paint in the most common scheme for the army since it may not match other stuff out there; yours is a choice of custom colors. this is regardless of whether or not they will actually strip them.

280$ (with codex) off of GW website if 20% discount 224$ would i really lose that much mondey because there painted in an alt scheme? would it be more effective to just strip them

Used is used. Unless the pieces are particularly rare or master painted, 20% off retail sounds right for a starting point, but it's possible you'd get less even.

I'm not like them, but I can pretend.

Observations on complex unit wound allocation: If you're feeling screwed, your opponent is probably doing it right.

I gotta say I like how they're painted, I wish i had gone with a less shiny grey for my DH. If i had money i'd offer you around $200 bucks for the army, thats just what I'd want to pay though. If I were you I'd put it on ebay starting bid $110, I imagine you could get around $250 after a few days.

Some suggestions on how to make this army sell for more when you actually list it:

#1. Base rings: First thing that I noticed from your pictures is that the base rings have drip marks from the washes that you used. Nothing says unfinished like an untidy base ring.

#2. Army Size: 1,100 points is an odd place to stop. Most people who buy armies are doing it to avoid having to paint\assemble\etc so they can get right to playing. At this size, it’s just large enough to not be able to do much with. If you can add a few vehicles or terminators (the best looking GK figures imho) to your list, then that will help get you to the magic number (1500 points). If you do not want to add anything, then say it’s a 1000 point army with additional options.

#3. Pictures: Take 20 minutes to cut up a cardboard box, line it with white paper, and fiddle with your camera settings. This will make your figures LOOK professional. The background clutter in your pictures is distracting and detracts from your figures.

#4. Price: Don’t expect to make a lot of profit on these figures. Then again, on Ebay anything is possible. If you are going to auction them off, start your bidding at whatever you actually paid for the figures. That way you’re not in the hole to start with.

it's nothing personal but 40k used prices are crap now due to the economy. the figs i tried to sell this year were painted the same quality as the ones i sold a year earlier and i've been getting 30-40% less. if you don't need the cash right away, hold off on selling it until people have more spending cash for luxuries. the other alternative is to trade for with someone else for equal retail value.
