Alright I don't want to pay $15 for GW's black primer, and I want to make sure I have a spray that is meant for small-scale modeling and won't clump on the mini.

Anyone got anything?

Will it clump on the model though?

as long as you have the spray paint a decent distance and you shake it before hand it works perfectly

Honestly ive used this stuff since i first started. Its at Walmart and only cost like 96 cents. Ive even spent the 10$ on the GW and cant tell the difference. Its called color place interior/exterior fast dry spray paint. I get it in the flat black. drys really fast and isnt tacky and doesnt take away any detail whatsoever. Ill usually put 2 coats on to get a really good coverage and then thats that. Ive even started to use the flat white for my wifes eldar. Even if you end up not liking it hell its only 96 cents. sure beats the 10-15 from GW

You have to hold fairly far away? Or is it one of those "especially flat paints?

Pat that askala, O-H-I hate this stupid state

Also Home Depot carries Quick Color flat black that dries exactly like GWs without the gritiness or clumping. It also sells for $0.96 per can. Just be sure when you buy it or others to look at the cap and make sure doesnt have a glossy cap.

i wouldn't recommend the quick color one (or at least the semigloss variety). i bought it to cover up some models i got on the cheap that i didn't really care about and i've had problems with paint brushing on properly with it. i can't speak for the flat variety though...

Yeah the flat doesnt have a really smooth glossy surface. It is rough enough so that the paint applies and sticks very well but not super rough as to make the paint look bumpy.
