The Engineer looks good, though the dread looks like he got slimed with paint. I like the idea of the chain but it really did not translate into exectution, not it just looks like a Mardi Gras contestant missing a bare chest. It looks like you are a bit new at painting so hold off on doing anything with the dread right now, but in the future I might sand it down a bit and try to mask the glops with brown and orange paint to look liek rust damage and throw some more dry brushing on it to look weathered and beaten. Good luck and keep yer head up!

Mmm, ball chain seems like a good idea at first, but it really isnt. I made the same mistake when I was new...
Check your local model shop for jewellery chain, waay better, and about the same price.

The paint on the Dreadnought is VERY gobby/streaky. Looks like my first one from when I was in sixth grade. If you're going to freehand you need to give it multiple coats before the streakiness goes away. As for the gobbiness, that lack of discipline and brush control... multiple, thin coats always do the trick without obscuring detail. I'm also going to have to agree that the Mardi Gras beads look a little silly...

I'd be happy too!
Your blood looks tacky. Fix it.
(J/K. I think its an interesting piece of basing, and I like it, but your blood could use a little work. Don;t feel bad, blood is a hard effect to pull off.)

Honestly, I'd recommend you get a nice big jug of Simple Green or Castrol Super Clean and a bucket. Leave that sucker in there for a few days, then brush all the paint off. Layering more paint onto that isn't going to help the situation, and striping it will give you a nice, clean canvas to practice on.
I'm not trying to be a dick here. Just giving out some frank advice.

You'r supposed to leave the minis in the Castrol Super Clean in there for days ? I put mine in for about 10 hours and they were clean !
Anyways , On Topic = Your freehand and yellow's on the dread look really gobby . Try using foundation pain(i think its called Yanden Darksun) yellow and then 2-3 thin coats of golden yellow . Highlight with Sunburst Yellow .

The pilot looks a bit better than the dread, but I'd say the paint is a little heavy on both of them. The dread should be stripped and redone. The pilot probably just needs some good Drybrushing to highlight his clothing/armour, and then a strong wash of Devlan Mud to shade him.
For your freehand, always use a pencil and DRAW the design on first. This will make it much easier.
As to the paints, just remember that it's better to paint 3 thin coats than to paint one thick, globby one. If you don't cover an area in one brushstroke, that's fine. You don't need to. Let the area dry, and then put another thin coat of paint down, instead of dunking the brush in it. You'll find it gives much better results if you just slow down and take your time
As for your blood, Tau blood is Purple (as you noted) or Blue. Unfortunately GW doesn't make inks anymore. The washes have replaced them. The easiest thing to do for Tau blood would probably be to mix 50/50 Purple paint with a Purple wash. Or a dark blue, like Midnight Blue, with a Blue wash. Use a fine detail to paint the blood on, as painting it with a standard or drybrush will make it look cartoony and excessive.
Once you've painted the main pool of blood, and any little bits of runoff, get an old toothbrush, dip the tips of the bristles in your blood mixture, then wipe most of it off on a tissue. Hold the brush near the base and gently run your finger over the bristles. little specks of purple or blue will spray over the affected area, giving the look of splatter.
Carefully apply gloss over the main blood pool and you're good to go
